Can't believe eero app does not have basic wifi settings such as prioritizing specific device traffic or manually selecting which band to use.

Getting my new Fire TV box to connect on 5Ghz was just a 2 hour ordeal of forgetting/reconnecting to the network multiple times until it finally decided to use the 5Ghz band. Terrible!

Shut it off.  You don't need wpa3.

DNS often fails for local devices. E.g. iMac.local. I will try to connect, e.g. using ssh or something from a different device and it will claim the device is not known.  After a few retries it will simply start working.

Are you using Apples Private WiFi address plus a VPN along with Private Relay? Sometimes when new or recently deleted Apple device tries to get back on the Network it sees each of these as separate devices. These all shown up  pretty much at the same time for 1 phone and 1 iPad I had to keep blocking my devices till I could figure out which one was actually correct. If you’re using macOS with VPN, Private WiFI and Private Relay you might trying to set your Mac with a Static Address.

      No.
In fact the iMac already has a fixed IP, but the name is not resolved. I can just repeat the same command (e.g. ping iMac.local) several times and it will start resolving the name.

The ability to measure signal strength in various parts of the house would be a big plau!

What have you tried?  I use one from farproc and it works flawlessly in residential and commercial spaces.

Thanks for the information.  I tried the first three (of over 70) that show up on AppStore.  Apple might not feature the apps in the same order each time.  Anyway, thanks for the suggestion as it is a more robust set of tools than I had seen.

apple is limited in how the apps work.  Most of these apps don't work well or at all on Apple devices.

I’ve been having issues with IoT things lately.  But only in one room which is the room where the gateway eero.

I have two smart light bulbs and a smart plug.  Randomly they started shutting off after a minute of being powered on.  I thought maybe one was affecting the other, but at this point I’ve replaced them all with different brands and still have the same thing happening.

assuming it’s the gateway shutting them off,  but why?

I have ektocity smart plugs dropping off network then reset to no avail.  Constantly dropping off, I bought different brands and still dropping.  Have to continue to reset them... I'm tired of having to reset and it doesn't do any good, within a day they are dropped again.  I've had MY ISP ON PROPERTY and THEY SAY ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.  The ISP is working properly.  EERO HAS done something recently that has created a problem with all the smart devices dropping off.  EERO WHY DONT YOU FIX the PROBLEM!!

exactly.  Same issue.  I tried different brands, they said turn off WPA3 all that  did was drop off existing things I already had connected like one of my laptops.

Now I am back to having service drops almost hourly.   Mostly on my phone.  It’ll say it’s connected but just load and load.  My Fing network monitor keeps popping up with connectivity issues.

im so sick of this.  If I had the money I’d get something different.   I’m buying a wireless card and plan to put these things into bridge mode and hosting my network through PF sense until I can find something better.

I am right there with you,  I'm sick and tired of this.  EERO has done something RECENTLY that has caused this problem and they will not admit it nor take responsibility for it.  EERO needs to step up to the Plate and resolve the ISSUE!!  If I had the money I'd be Leaving and LOOKING FOR ANOTHER NETWORK RESOLUTION!!

Any way to have an option of setting time limits on specific devices connected to the eero?

create a profile and set time limits on that. Then assign any devices you want to limit to that profile. I use this to limit my kids devices.
