timfantone Working fine with Plex here on atv/iOS & nvidia shield. But I was having issues with Plex on PS4 pro so I wonder if that was the reason. I never revisited.

I have spent almost $1000 on 4 eero 6 pro devices.  Eero please fix what ever you have broken. Don't says its wifi 6. I had Verizon version of orbi for a short time never had issues and that was wifi 6

  • While the eero Labs features are very welcome, whenever I turn on WPA3 my Surface Pro loses connection and refuses to connect to the WIFI. The only way to connect again is by turning WPA3 setting off.

txgunlover thanks for your reply. I have a Surface Pro 5. Anyway, I understood that this feature would only add extra security to those client devices supporting WPA3. Does this mean that we can only turn it on if all our devices are WPA3 compatible?

dpepa I also have a 5, but haven't tried to turn on WPA3 as I have over 130 devices and some are up to 10 years old... unfortunately, several devices have popped up since the beta of WPA3 started that have shown that the devices will not connect.  It SHOULD allow it, but some devices just won't work.

  • How can we tell the version of beta features?

I'm happy try them out, when they cause issues with the rest of my network environment, I have to turn them off.. I haven't found a path to understand when they've been updated, so I can see if the update fixes the issues I have.

    Thanks!

  • Have had two issues with WPA3 to this point. The first was with an iPad Pro not running the latest software. I could not get it to connect to the Eero 6 system until I shut off WPA3. It then connected fine and I updated the OS. Turned WPA3 back on and it seemed to work fine then. Today on my Eero Pro 6 system I found that my garage door MyQ hub system was having issues connecting. I updated the Eero Pro 6s to 6.0.4 a few days ago and didn’t notice many issues until the last 24 hours or so. I’ve shut WPA3 off and it seems to connect fine now.

JesseABraun I have the same problem with my HP laser printer.  If WPA3 is on, the laser printer won’t connect to wifi.  Once off it connects just fine.   The printer is a newer model less than a year old.

C8888 JesseABraun  same issue with an older Epson Stylus NX430. Will only connect to wifi when WPA3 is turned off; and then has no problems. It is the only device on my network that does this. Evan (eero support)  any upcoming fixes for older WPA2-only devices to connect when (optional) WPA3 is turned on?

  • Hey gang- just upgraded my setup to the latest models and was disappointed to find that the HomeKit Router functionality has been removed!  Please tell me that you’re not “pulling an Amazon” on us and removing rival functionality.  Not sure what I’m going to do, but probably going to return these and move to a different brand. :(

NoahsARK that is what band steering does. Your TP Link can do 5 so it will steer them to that. If you are needing items to stay off the 5 and stay on 2.4 you will need to remove band steering.

Appears you live in Texas too. Ask any of your buddies with consolidated comms fiber how they’re running eero. Shouldn’t have to run my $30 netgear router between the ONT and the eero either but such is life.

  • I want to pin devices or set a preference so they connect to the closest eero. Band steering is great, but devices connect to weak signals, say after a eero update.  I then have to separately reboot eeros in a certain order so they connect to a stronger signal

  • I do not have the latest devices on my network -- a few years old on average. Performance is more stable with eero but not any faster than before installation. I enabled some beta functions (WEP3 and Local DNS caching). Seems snappier while browsing different pages on a domain. Enabling option Band steering hangs up page loading. Could not disable it on my iPad 5 (switch kept bouncing back on). Had to disable with iPhone 8. (I don't believe there are any WEP3 compatible devices.)

    • Clinically Speaking Clicking on each device in the eero dashboard, I see that all but one is WEP3 and all are using WiFi 5 at closest location. So the beta Band steering feature is unnecessary.

  • What happened to Smart Queue Management?  I found out about this 2+ months ago and it solved the issues I was having on zoom & teams calls.  It made a huge difference and I never had any more issues until this morning.  I took at look at my eero app and SQM is no longer listed under eero labs?  Why?  This provided a nice QoS option to video and voice calls.  Please bring it back.

    • laurie 3rd gen doesn’t work with WPA3 because Apple never released an update to support WPA3. This is common for older devices.

cMoo92 The new devices are working.  I guess talking to Apple Support, might help rectify the issue.  It's  not a eero bug IMHO

      Like
    • KirkNason correct, newer Apple devices work just fine because they have newer hardware and software updates. Older devices (like the Apple TV 3rd gen, older iPads, and other devices from different manufacturers) don’t support WPA3.

cMoo92 but they should connect WPA2 instead. Have many TP-Link, Epson Printer, Samsung TVs, Bond Hub and many other devices that work.  So going back to my comment above, probably should open tickets with the Vendor of those items.

    • KirkNason Apple is probably not going to commitment time or effort to VIN/OBS products that aren't working with wireless standards that have not been released yet. Having said that, I am running tvOS 7.6 on ATV 3rd gen and my Eero network is setup with WPA3 enabled and the ATV 3rd gen connects just fine.

Might want to check and see if any switches in use need to be reset. I had that happen with an unmanaged  switch. Powercycling it resolved my connectivity issues on 2 new iMac 27inch 5k Retinas. Go figure.

  • Honestly I think its a really bad system. How is it that I have a 1400sqft 2 floor house and I have the main router in the second floor in the center of the house and a added beacon on the first floor in the center of the house.yet I still have dead spots 6ft away from the extender. This is horrible I pay $110 a month for 1gb of speed and In certain rooms I’m only getting 5mb how is this possible.

David17 First paying for 1gb is a waste of money.  200mb is what I have and I have ~60 WiFi devices on my eero network.  This includes three streaming devices and a XBOX.  Rather than put them inline with each other,  put one in the front and one further back in the house to start.  Or try to put a second  beacon towards the back of your first floor.   Dispersed is better.
Also do you have a third party router in front of your eero?  If so, ditch it.  You are creating to many hops in your network.

So I have a full ring alarm system with 8 cameras, 2 TV and Apple TV’s. About 10 wifi speakers around the house. I only have the router itself and a beacon on the first floor. But my master bedroom is 15ft away from the main router and my tv doesnt have good wifi. I dont know how To set it up to have wifi in the whole house. To buy another beacon doesnt make sense in my head when I have to pay $130 for one and an additional router will cost me $200

David17 I was recommending first moving the ones you have around the house to see how they behave.
Then I suggested one (1) beacon more to spread the Mesh around you house.
1st Floor (front) and (rear), and second floor leave the eero router in the center.

  • I just wanted to share that I have a Legrand Smart In-Wall Switch, and that failed to join my network with Band Steering and WPA3 enabled (I suspect the issue was due to Band Steering). After enabling both toggles, I was able to get it to add right away after a ton of failed attempts prior.

    • epheterson Actually it seems to be due to WPA3, I was able to reproduce it with only that toggle on after some more testing.
