Having no trouble with WPA3 (Beta), until I recently bought 3 Xiaomi Desk Lamp 1s (yeelink.light.lamp4). Some issues already occur while adding them to my eero-wifi. Upgrade to the latest firmware 2.1.7_0012 went through, but then more often the lamps greyed out in the Yeelight app (and reappears).

eero App still shows all of them. I started to ping all three, one was reponding, but the two others were not. As soon as I turned off WPA3, all three lamps immediately responded to ping.

I found in a Yeelight support forum they are mentioning WPA3 is not supported. Is there a way in the eero App to manually set these lamps to WPA2?

JTA I do have an iPhone SE 2020 and Netatmo (HWv3) as well, but I did not noticed any issues. As soon as there is a new eeroOS out, I am going to give it another try. And to watch closer whats happened to Netatmo and iPhone SE.

What happened to the band steering option? I no longer see band steering in labs after the recent update.

Metronet is great. My gaming has been awesome and sreaming is wonderful. Thx for the eero pro 6. Its simple and easy to use. You have to use an app to manage settings instead of browser. Just had to learn more about it and nowni can set up ipv6 firewall for devices

I had issues with MacOS and Adobe Creative Suite updates falling to download whether wired or W-Fi. As soon as I disabled DNS Caching and Optimize for Conferencing and Gaming in Eero Labs, the updates completed successfully. I need to do more testing to see if disabling one or the other setting, or a combination of the two actions, solved the problem.

Also, I've begun to have issues with devices losing their Wi-Fi connection and then failing to re-join the network. I first noticed this problem about a month ago, and it occurs several times a day. Turning off Apple's Private Addressing in iOS helped a little, but it didn't completely resolve the issue or have anything to do with a similar problem on my MBP. Disabling WPA3 in Eero, however, may have done the trick.

LWB Update: Eero updated to 6.3.1 a few nights ago. I've since gradually re-enabled the Eero Labs features, one feature each day. No issues have returned. Everything works fine.

WPA3 in Eero Labs - when I turn it on, it kills the wireless connection on my old Epson WorkForce 845 Printer.  I toggled it on and off and watched the printer connection drop and connect.

Your device doesn't support WPA3.  With Eero WPA3 enabled it should still allow WPA2 capable devices to connect.  This is not the case with you or with HP printers.

Turn it off as this encryption is not supported on your devices.  This is why it's beta.

    Thnx for the info.

There needs to be a way for errors to detect and track packet loss.  Verizon Fios is blaming the Eeros Pro mesh network for the packet loss and there needs to be an easy way to trouble shoot this on both ends,  especially the Eeros Pro.

Hello everyone, first post so if in the wrong place I do apologise.

Just tested WPA3/WPA2 Mixed mode this morning. Thought I would highlight back the Teckin SP27 smart plugs will not reconnect back to the legacy WPA2 standard when WPA3 is enabled. Was surprised though at the amount of devices that do in this mix mode environment.

Many thanks and keep up the good work 🙂

When enabling WPA3, it causes some WPA2 devices to not be able to connect to my network-/even when 5 GHz is temporarily turned off. After disabling and allowing them to connect, they will get booted from the network once WPA3 is turned back on. Other comparable devices (in this case, single vs. dual smart plugs) from the same manufacturer that are WPA2 do not have this issue. I have not tried to re-add WPA2 devices that don’t have this issue, as I don’t want to mess anything up. So at the moment I can’t say if it’s specific to the new devices I’m adding, or if the older devices are “grandfathered in” prior to some new change in this beta feature

    Hi,

Have 2 eero in my house and one in detached garage. Devices in house like my TV keep attaching to the garage eero even though it is the farthest away. How can I attach a device to the closes eero? There should be a way to do this to keep a device attached to the strongest signal, which should be the closest eero.

bigbillh   I have the same problem and nobody here seems to answer at that problem.  It’s slowing down my Web experience, I’m supposed to get better than 125Mbps on a 370Mbps and I really thinking about just changing the routers.  Works perfectly well on the one that is plugged in, but the rest is a nightmare and I am probably going to buy something from another company with I hope a better customer service.  I’m mad at myself for buying this sh…

bigbillh Steve Beaudin this isn’t an eero issue. It’s up the client device to choose which access point to connect to. Unfortunately, what you’re dealing with is devices that have poor/buggy logic built into it by the manufacturer.

If your devices are just being “sticky”, you can try unplugging the far away eero so the devices will connect to the closer one, and then plug the eero back in and hope the devices stay on the physically closer eero.

cMoo92 Soooo, you are saying manufacturers like Vizio, HP and Amazon are writing buggy software in their TV's, laptops, printers and echo devices? I turned off the garage eero so they would connect to the upstairs or office, closer devices and then turned the garage back on. They went back to the garage again so I just turned it off for now. I've even set reservations for some of the devices to see if that will help. I'll wait a couple of weeks without the garage to see if they "learn" anything.

bigbillh there's lots of buggy software including in wifi drivers--especially on "smart devices" that often don't get frequent (if any) updates to try and fix any issues. And again, the way wifi works is that it's up to the client device to choose which access point to connect to.

If you have any of the Labs features enabled (like WPA3 or band steering), those can be problematic for some client devices, try disabling those and see if it improves anything.

cMoo92 and bigbillh     I did that, even had 3 eero’s on the network.  Took one off, disabled Labs features and Band Steering.  Still the same problems and connects to the farther away unit, does not seem to learn anything in fact.  The speed with one less unit is a bit better.  Having to shut down a unit to obtain good connections is not a viable solution in my mind.  Thanks you for your help.

bigbillh   Well it’s been 2 days, the eero did not learn anything, keeps on connecting to the farthest unit and the speed is still at about the third of it’s capability, pure crap in fact…. I will be leaving soon for my off grid summer camp and will be there all summer and when I get back in September, I will try to find a really powerful router and eero will take the trash bin side where it belongs, this is just ridiculous having to pass so much time trying to get this thing to work properly as we are not all electronics technicians, for me this thing sucks and I am truly sorry I bought this.  Naturally, I will not be recommending  to buy eero, in fact I will be recommending to stay away from it.  What a waste of time and good money…

The option to temporarily stop 5ghz is great. There are quite a few devices that will not connect at 5ghz even when the router promises to automatically detect the best choice. Having the option to turn it off leaves no doubt what the problem is or isn't.

I was disappointed to find out the Eero does not have support for VLAN to secure IoT devices. I see that there is support for Amazon Home Connect and Apple HomeKit, but I’d rather not buy another device to handle IoT devices.

I wished there was a way to choose the frequency for WiFi, 2.4g or 5g, as well as being able to change channels to minimize interference; although, I have not had any issues with my current devices.my though was that gamers might like the preference on frequency to increase the download speed since 2.4g, a lot of times, only uses half the available download speed.

my Eero 6 router, router/AP, and extenders all work great with their connection to each other. The wireless backhaul does use up crucial upload speed. This is the reason I purchased an additional router to connect as a wired AP. Just wanted to share in case others are having problems with upload speed. If you fiber, this is not a big issue, but if you have cable internet with only 10 mbps upload, then using a wired router instead of wireless extenders can illuminate that issue.

WPA3 beta feedback: my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite just couldn’t connect to WiFi with WPA3 turned on (gave password error). Had a similar issue with my canon pixma 870 printer. After turning off WPA3, both devices were able to connect to WiFi.
