  • It would be nice if there was a way to prioritize each device on the network, or to even permit slicing up bandwidth to specific devices on the fly - I’ve just signed up for 1GB internet and had eero devices installed.  I’m backing up my PC to Backblaze for the first time, and I’d like to shift most of my bandwidth to that backup of 10TB+ of data to get it done quickly.  Once done, I’d just return the mix to default.

  • I would like more control over which eero my devices use. My thermostat is connected to my basement eero, but is 6ft away from the base in direct line of sight, as an example.

  • Not how mesh works.  Devices will get connected to the least congested path to get out to the internet.

I would be great to turn off 2.4ghz as long as there are no devices needing it.  I know ring prefers 2.4.  As well as Nest.  2.4 travels further but is more congested.

A great feature would be to add more ssids and assign those to specific eeros.  This way, nest for instance will connect to that specific eero.

  • It would be nice per eero receiver to prioritize either wired or wireless connections (or set a receiver to only wired/wireless).

Quicker access in the app to see where data is being used and to set a priority device would be nice.

  • Please add a way to prioritize a single device.  This is really needed and something you don’t offer that many other routers do.  Thanks!

  • Move “live data” usage to the top level of the activity screen on its own category. Currently it’s buried and isn’t actually live (on a 5 sec delay). Most of the time, when going into this option and waiting it doesn’t even update for me. As mention in my other post, being able to click on a device in this screen and set it to priority as others have stated as well is recommended.

  • I'm sure many of us can get behind this which would be split ssids my phone keeps finding this wi-fi band as Wi-Fi 6 and not Wi-Fi 6E so I have to constantly reconnect my phone in order to get the Wi-Fi 6E speeds but then after so long my phone reconnects to the Wi-Fi 6 and I lose that great speed for my pro 6E router. What are you guys think I would love to see split ssids so I can decide which gigahertz band to put devices on.

  • I noticed and issue with the WPA3 under the Eero Labs. When it is toggled on my old printer can’t connect to the internet. None of my other devices have an issue. It’s an HP Envy 4500.

mhunt44 some beta do not work or work well.

      Go to the app

Bottom of app, go to discover.

      Disable what you want.

If you can't resolve, please call support.  They are very helpful.

  • I just had a Tesla Wall connector installed and had trouble connecting to my eero pro. It uses 2.4Ghz WPA2. It wouldn’t connect because I had enabled WPA3 as part of the eero Labs option. It was able to see the network but just wouldn’t connect to the internet. Not sure the technical reasons but thought I’d let you know so you could address it…

  • There needs to be a way to select 2.4 or 5ghz for certain devices. My fire tv sticks are typically defaulting to 2.4 and I have quite a bit of buffering going on.

  • I am curious how far away you are from the eero when you try connecting?  If you are far enough then the 2.4 Ghz would be preferred.

2.4 travels further than 5Ghz.  However, it is more congested and slower as you know.

I agree, if there is a way to turn off 2.4 completely would be great.  This will also reduce the interference on the network.

    • Sdworman no the wall connector only supports 2.4ghz and WPA2. I would say it’s about 60 feet away from the router and it’s not a bad signal. I would love to be able to say “this device will only use 2.4Ghz and WPA2” from the eero router. Interestingly, I thought that if I turned on WPA3 it meant it would also support both WPA2 and WPA3, but it didn’t like it.

  • Being able to force bind devices to certain nodes would be great. I know that a desktop, doorbell, camera isn’t going to move and I know which eero is closest. My ASUS system allows this configuration.

Built in VPN client for the popular VPN providers. This would be a great way to increase security or permit users to vpn back into work.

A way to test the connection between a remote eero and the router without using speed test on an external device. This will be helpful, for when an ethernet devices are connected to a remote eero. I want to see how much bandwidth is actually available . My router is in the office. the TV is connected to a remote eero and the router is in the office.

Maybe remote control is possible but haven’t found it yet  I was expecting this from Amazon, something like Meraki for home users

  • I might be asking for a lot.  But I’m trying to advance my home network a bit and there are several featured I wish I had so I didn’t have to buy more equipment.

I wish a more sophisticated firewall was available.   I need the ability to do some more specific content filtering and would be nice to get some logging reports.

I need to create some VLAN’s.   Would be nice if you guys had a managed switch.

I know this is more advanced stuff.  But maybe having products that were a little more advanced as an option for purchase would be beneficial.

danoutlaw3 Most home users do not require vlans.  However, eero may enter that phase.  Netgear and Linksys does offer managed switches.  As you mentioned, you are looking for enterprise network gear.

danoutlaw3 well, I am a network engineer and do not find a need for this.  Most people working form home are not the engineers.  When they do work from home, the networks they need access to are accessed over a VPN connection.

I do understand that if you want to setup a network with switching, routing, and a firewall.  This is not the audience eero/Amazon is serving on a whole.  They are too busy integrating the Ring security and eero and concentrating on the "SMART" technologies.

You never know, they may enter the competitive enterprise network market....  After all, Google is pushing fiber networks to homes....  It's all exciting times...

Sdworman to your point though with the Smart stuff.  Isn’t it recommended that these items, security cameras, etc be separate from your LAN.  If that’s the case wouldn’t a VLAN be the most practical application?   I’m not a networking engineer I took the wrong road in my career path too many years ago,  but I try to learn a lot about networking.

For me specifically I might have a switch to a work from home job.  My wife works from home and works for the GOVT.  I really want to create VLANs so none of these different walks of life intertwine.  Yes we will both work off VPN’s but I still don’t feel comfortable having my kid’s Nintendo switch on the same network as my wife’s govt laptop if that makes sense.

but agreed this is probably more than I should expect from eero.

danoutlaw3 yes, you are correct.  To setup and segment your network, you would separate these devices like they would at an office environment using vlans.  This just makes it more complicated since the cameras, and other smart devices rely on the internet to get back to the vendor's cloud environment.  Also, an environment at home is so much smaller and would not really justify this.

Hey, if you want to set this up at home, go for it.  I will mention that you need to review the smart devices you have and make sure passwords and other security measures are set correctly.  It really comes down to these devices and how each one is secure.  When you access these remotely, use a vpn connection to do so.  I cannot recommend any, but there are some, I even think eero has a 3rd party you could use when accessing these devices.  Passwords are key.  use unique passwords...

These are just a few tips.  Good luck..

  • Some problems with the eero lab features are one WP3 has been a big issue. Some devices that support WP3 have some problems connecting. When WP3 is enabled it would take multiple restarts and resets of that device for it to connect. When WP3 is off, the device connects fine. Next, when WP3 is enabled, the device will sometimes become slow or sluggish when it's off it is fine. When optimized for conferencing and gaming is turned on, the network will become slow and it takes forever for some websites to load I hope that the optimize network for conferencing and gaming can analyze what devices are connected like light bulbs, smart thermostats, etc. And if those devices don't need high speeds but need low latency that it can optimize it that way similar to how the plume wifi devices work were they use smart AI to detect? This is a light bulb. It doesn't need fast speeds but it needs lower latency. It does that you know. Maybe it's a gaming computer. It will need low latency and high speed. Something like that.

  • Your SQM implementation is broken. When disabled, upload bufferbloat is near zero, whereas if it is enabled, i see in excess of +50ms ping in the bufferbloat tests. I can confirm it wasn't a one off, tested 3 times each when SQM was enabled and disabled. Eero 6 for reference.

    SQM Off

    SQM On

A quick Google search clearly shows this isn't a one off, when will you get round to fixing this?

IIHydraII it's called optimize for gaming and video conferencing. That's the SQM you're referring to but the thing is that I want the SQM to work differently The slow speeds is what it's supposed to do so it's limiting speeds to certain devices so the other devices can have better connection and performance. Not one device is hogging up the bandwidth.

will1234go I know how SQM works, otherwise i wouldn't have referred to it as that. The issue is, it almost seems that the options are reversed and the SQM is disabled when enabled and vice versa, based on  the levels of bufferbloat. For ex, when it was enabled, i was seeing up to 50ms ping spike when under load, whereas it was basically unaffected (0-5ms) when it was disabled.

IIHydraII I fully agree with you. The SQM setting of 'Off' provides a much better result - as if the settings are reversed (off = on).

Before moving to Eero I used Unifi equipment. With SQM on I would get almost no buffer bloat, but without it bufferbloat was high as you would expect.

Complete opposite with the Eero 6+ which is strange.
