  • Wpa3 seems to be a common issue if it's enabled.

Don't need this encryption turned on as it's beta.

    • Jessica Marie Garcia I can only provide advice for what to do in regards to the eero. You can hard reset your eeros, create a new eero app account, and recreate the network on that new account. For the other issues, you may want to contact your bank and other applicable companies to regain control of those assets.

  • I used to turn on the beta features. Now I have all of them off since one of them or all of them make fire tv lose internet connection. Fire tv stays connecting to eero but without internet. Many people have the same issue. After I turned all the beta features off, I don’t have the issue anymore.

  • Any idea on how to get my eero 6 to be recognised in either the Tuya or Smart life apps as a zigbee gateway? Alexa can see devices through those apps - but the devices won't load without the eero being present / visable first. Is there a way of putting the eero into a pairing mode?

  • Running into issues with low bandwidth Smart Home devices that just plain perform better on 2.4 bands.  Several are not WPA3 enabled even though they are dual band. There are not wi-Fi updates available for these devices. They work well when the 5.0 is disabled, but cannot reach the IoT hubs when connected to 5.0GHz radio.. I was able to find a way to limit the 5.0 side to WPA2 on the eero 6, but it would be better to be able to limit some devices to the 2.4 side for better security and longer connected range/strength with low data throughput

  • My Eero system does a great job. Could we get a feature allowing to manually force a device to one Eero Pro device for the next 10 minutes or so? If I relocate my laptop it’s sometimes slow to pick that up. I could just tell it where I’ve moved to, and go ahead and get the bandwidth I need for my in progress video call (for example).

  • I want the ability to choose if my phone, pc, whatever connects to the 5ghz or 2.4. I don't want you to choose for me.  Not being able to choose is very frustrating. Not being able to prioritize a device is also nonsense.

  • Hi, as my hp printer doesn‘t work on wpa3 - could you make it possible to let one device manually on wpa2 - all the other once automatically use wpa3?

  • Had all three turned on. Not sure which one cause the iss with the MyQ garage door open. But anytime on my Wi-Fi network it would not communicate to open or close garage door. The profile for the open show it was WPA3.  But I could not send the command unless I was on the cellular network.

  • Very disappointed with eero pro 6 i just installed. I would have liked a desktop/laptop management interface. I guess eero didn't think that was necessary since there is almost no management control over the device/network anyway. This thing a basically a wide open, unsecured, POS (IMHO). I'm returning it and getting something better.

  • Most if not all of the mesh wifi use an app to manage the device.

It would be helpful to explain the issues you have with the eero.  This community can help.

Sdworman : Some of the issues I have with the eero:  1) I would start with how is the phone app management interface being secured? On my old router i could lock down management to a hard wired port on the router and prevent remote/wireless access. 2) I could configure the old router to deny all connections and only allow a whitelist of devices by MAC address. 3) On the eero there's no way to configure a particular device connection to a certain band and/or encryption to resolve connection/performance issues. Also there's no way to see how a device is actually connected to the network. These are just acouple issues i have with the eero. Any thoughts or insights? Am i missing something? -G

G-stow You are correct.  The eero platform cannot provide the level of mgmt security you seek.  I would be curious to learn if a home mesh offering does exist.  It's a great point.  As for the MAC filtering, eero allows the client to connect, but then you need to block this form the network.  I am pretty sure this was designed for simplicity for a typical home user.  You are really looking for a place where you can allow what you want first, which is something typical of a enterprise router or hardwire router for the home with a built in firewall.  This is not eero...

Also, if you want particular devices to use 2.4 or 5.0 specifically, you would need to do this on the client side.  Some clients allow you to chose the band..

Perhaps, this all will come in time with eero.  However, the mesh system works very well.  HTH....

Sdworman agreed but my understanding of the feature was that it was supposed to be backwards compatible with WPA2 even while WPA3 is enabled.  I would guess that it isn't 100% backwards compatible or that somehow, it appears different to the device with WPA3 enabled.

Tgeery Problem with compatibility is that it will depend on implementation on both ends: the hotspot and the client. Both need to follow specifications in order for compatibility to exist, and sadly that's often not the case.

If I can offer suggestion: I noticed that my HP printer will not connect to a wifi network after switching between WPA2 and WPA3 (and vice-versa) until I manually remove network from settings and add it again (not just re-connect). But after that it will connect using WPA2 even though WPA3 is enabled on the network.

dannyboy thanks for that suggestion.  Unfortunately, with this particular device, if WPA3 is enabled it refuses to connect to the network at all.  I can remove the network info and start over with it and it just will not even see the network.

I agree, the WPA3 implementation has to be done well at each end for things to work.

Tgeery with eero labs WPA3 it is not backwards compatible at this time.  I also learned this when I enabled the WPA3 and my HP printer stopped connecting.  As soon as I put this back to WPA2 it reconnected.  Also some ipads will have an issue to connect using WPA3.  For now, disabling the WPA3 in eero is the only action to resolve this.

  • I'm not sure where to post this so I'll copy and paste it a couple places.

So I have a few ideas to help make eeros much better for the customers. First off I would like to see a way to force certain devises to only use certain eeros. Here's what I mean by that. I've got a lot of smart plugs and other devises that really don't need all that fast of internet so I would like them to be forced to only use my bedroom eero and not my main living room eero as it is the bigger eero 6 model so it has much faster wireless speeds. I only want my gaming devices and maybe TV on that one and the rest on the other eero. Which brings me to my second thing which kinda ties into that. I want to be able to dedicate speeds or to kinda throttle my TV and other devices so it doesn't take as much bandwidth away from my gaming devices. Now I know in your labs you kinda started to do that but it's all automatic. I want to personally dedicate each device it's own amount of bandwidth like certain other higher end gaming routers have the ability to do. I highly think this would be a huge benefit for gamers like myself. Even with my 1 gig internet service I still experience issues with these other devices all being connected to the same eero as my gaming system even with a wired ethernet cable being used. If I could get all these other devices on my slower eero I don't think I would be experiencing as many issues. I have found kinda a trick to get most of those other things off it however if anyone else is experiencing the same issues. I unplug my main eero 6 for a few seconds so everything transfers over to the other one then plug it back in which works most of the time to get most of the other devices off my main eero but that's a huge pain every time I go to play some games.

  • I would like a fairly simple explanation of how a VPN passthrough works and how to setup a passthrough. I have an Xfinity Gateway (modem/router) ahead of my eero 6 mesh router. Because of that setup, I have 2 WiFi networks. I’m currently using Encrypt.me VPN as I recently purchased eero Secure+ at a 50% discount. I have the Encrypt.me app on 2 iPhones (SE 2nd generation/2020) and my Dell desktop computer—all seems to be working well but could I be doing more with a VPN passthrough? Much of this technology is over my head!! Thanks for any help.
