Bandwidth Issues

I've been noticing some very strange bandwidth issues when it comes to all eero's that are not the gateway.  Let me explain my setup.

Office (Bottom Floor)

Bandwidth on this floor is in the 200 range WiFi, and 300 range cabled.

Cable Modem ---] Port 1 on Patch Panel

Port 1 on Patch Panel ---] eero (2nd generation) gateway.

eero (2nd generation) gateway ---> TP-LINK 16-Port Rack Mount Switch.

The TP-LiNK has a CAT 6 that goes to Port 2 on the Patch Panel this lights up my main floor.

Main Floor

Bandwidth on the floor will not exceed 95Mbps WiFi or cabled.

Port 2 on Patch Panel in office ---] eero (1st generation)

eero (1 generation) ---] to ASUS 8 port Gigabit Switch

The ASUS 8 port Gigabit Switch has a CAT 6 that goes to the master bedroom eero (1st generation)

3rd Floor (Master Bedroom)

Bandwidth on the floor will not exceed 95Mbps WiFi or cabled.

ASUS 8 port Gigabit Switch on Main Floor ---] eero (1st generation)

eero (1st generation) ---] to ASUS 8 Port Gigabit Switch

This ASUS Gigabit Switch also has a CAT6 going out from it to the Guest Bedroom on the 3rd floor.  The Guest Bedroom has an eero (1st generation) and nothing else.

Also my garage has an eero Beacon.

So my problem is with all network elements connected via CAT6 sans the eero Beacon, why is it that my Main and 3rd Floors are stuck at Fast Ethernet Bandwidth vs my Office where the Gateway is being the only gigabit location in the house?

Possibly sounds like either (a) one of your switches is actually just 100Mb and not gigabit, or (b) for some reason the link negotiating is messing up and setting itself to 100Mbps on the switch.

cMoo92 I was thinking it could have been the switches also but connected wirelessly to the main floor eero presents the same issue.   It almost seems like it’s an issue with the duplex on the eero’s.

carlsimmons81 what’s the square footage for your house? That seems like a lot of eeros, unless you’re well over 3,000 sq/ft.

Also, I’d recommend you talk to support. I’d assume they could check and tell if there is a link negotiation issue.

cMoo92 1500 sq ft but full of solid concrete.

I fixed the issue which happened to be on my end.  The run from the office up to the living room had a bad RJ45 coupler.   Naturally I would think this wouldn’t work vs working but dropping bandwidth down to fast ethernet.
