Eero Pro 6 and Apple HomeKit

Will the new Eero Pro 6 support Apple’s HomeKit in the future?

Over the holiday break, I decided to reset all my HomeKit accessories on my network and enable HomeKit on my main Gateway Eero Pro.  I have 3 Eero Pros and 1 Eero Beacon (running eeroOS 6.1.0).  Everything was set up and running fine last night.  I added all my Phillips Hue and Lutron lights and switches and tested them before going to bed.  This morning I get up and open my Home app on my iPhone 12 (running iOS 14.3) and MacBook Pro (running macOS Big Sur 11.1) only to see "No Response" for all my eero devices.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I would really appreciate any ideas or insights

Here's the reply I received from Eero Support this afternoon:

    "Hello,

Thank you for emailing to us with your concern.

As of now, we are currently working with Apple to receive the license to have ties with our latest firmware updates to the eero devices. The HomeKit section in the eero app may have been removed with any recent app updates as well.

Once HomeKit is available again, we send out a newsletter/ email to our users. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

if you have any other inquiries or concerns, feel free to let us know.

    eero Support"

Guess this means:  "Don't use this now.  We'll tell you when you can try again."

So disappointing. I’m actually debating returning the device and buying it again when and if it ever gets homekit in the future. If it’s not going to segment network connections for me I’d like a router with the ability to create a separate VLAN instead.

I can’t believe I missed this when I just upgraded to the Pro 6 today. Prolly on its way back now. This is crazy...  reading the thread it’s taken MONTHS for this?!?

I was communicating with Customer Support on another issue back on 03/08/21 and inquired about an ETA on HomeKit compatibility for the eero 6 .  Unfortunately their response was "As for Homekit, unfortunately I don't have any updates for you about that. eero will update users about that when there is more information."

I have found since upgrading to eero pro 6, I can not longer add homekit devices to my network. I follow the process and scan the code and it tells me I can’t add the device. I had a light that was on the network and I deleted it and tried to reinstall it and now nothing... I can’t add it.

eero told me there was a problem that they were working with Apple on.

I would really like to get this resolved but no time horizon...

jwklinck this isn’t a HomeKit issue. The problem is that the light bulb you’re trying to connect only supports 2.4Ghz while your phone is likely on the 5Ghz network. The way to get around this is to temporarily disable the 5Ghz radio so your phone will be on the 2.4Ghz radio. To do this, open the eero app and go to Settings > Troubleshooting > My device won’t connect > My device is 2.4Ghz only

I tried your suggestion and I think the problem is more complicated.  I set the eero to only 2.4 Ghz and reconnected the iPhone.  Then I tried to add the device to my HomeKit and it came up with the correct device name, but then when I tapped it to add it, it said I needed to connect the phone to my HomeKit compatible router and the popup window disappear.  It would seem that I can't add it until eero and Apple do whatever is needed to get this router HomeKit compatible.

jwklinck correct. Eero pro 6 is not compatible yet with HomeKit. The blame is apparently on Apple certification... but this issue has been open for half a year, easily.

I’m surprised there’s still no support for Homekit. Might have to update my review of it on Amazon to reflect the missing functionality. Shame, since it’s a good device otherwise.

eerodyspo considering Apple is the one holding up HomeKit certification and NOT Eero, it does no good to blame Eero for it. Netgear, Asus, Libksys, and Cisco are also waiting for HomeKit certification from Apple for routers they released 1st Quarter 2020. The delay is entirely on Apple’s end, NOT Eero.

Richard1864 nope nope and hard nope. Agreeing to apples privacy policy?  Yup. Look deeper. Eero has an option here.

Cluise I never said anything about privacy policies. Where did that come from?  What are you talking about?

I purchased this in January. I am starting to think that HomeKit isn’t coming.

Is there any recent news on HomeKit approval? Maybe some sort of time frame?

I’m just curious as to how long it took them to get approval for the prior model.

I just received notice from within the eero app that HomeKit is available and successfully added my eero 6 Pro and eero 6 to HomeKit.

Anthony-Yasin It's also available on the earlier eero pro (pre-6), which I have. You do need to update your iOS eero app for the option to appear. Not sure if you need to be on eeroOS 6.3.1, but probably you do.

Hey all- I'm struggling mightily to get eero Pro to connect with HomeKit. I've got an updated ipad (3) set as home hub (including Keychain active and 2FA). I click through eero (latest iOS version) from ...Discover>Apple HomeKit>. Then I go through ...Set up HomeKit>Open Home Hub. From Home Hub>Add Accessory... I choose, "I don't have a code or cannot scan." Home Hub can see the eero pro, and when I tap to add it, I get this message:
This accessory could not be added using this app. Try adding from the accessory manufacturer's app."

ARGH! Do I need to scan the eero? Are there any other settings I should check?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

When I click on “Setup HomeKit” in the Eero app->Discover section, I only get a spinning circle that never ends. This happens on both my iPhone 12 and iPad Pro running iOS/iPadOS 14.6. ☹️

Oscar Gidas Same issue here as well.  Just bought a new Euro 6 for a new network and get the never ending spinning circle after clicking "Setup Homekit" too.

By chance did you find a solution?  Anyone have any insight to this?
