Will the new Eero Pro 6 support Apple’s HomeKit in the future?

      cMoo92 there’s no way to add the new Eero 6 or Eero Pro 6 to HomeKit, like you could with previous Eero’s. Apple also confirms the Eero 6 and Eero Oro 6 are NOT currently supported HoneKit accessories. Eero’s website also specifically does NOT say that these new routers support HoneKit. That’s why I’m asking if that functionality will come back.

      cMoo92 The new ones don’t at the moment. From what Eero has said it’s going through the certification process. I have faith it will come to them soon enough.

    The Eero 6 routers. Does not support Homekit like the previous eero devices. Don't know why. I'm honestly upset about it because I have the Eero pro and replaced it with the new Eero 6. To find out it's not homekit is really upsetting. I spoke with an eero support member. He told me that it would support HomeKit, which was not true. I hope they make it support Homekit. Now I'm stuck with two "no response" router on my homekit and I can't delete.

      There’s a thread about this on Reddit where the CEO indicated that the eero 6 systems were undergoing HomeKit certification with Apple. So it should just be a matter of time. In the meantime you can get rid of your oils routers in the Home app. But you must select the “Remove Accessory” option on the gateway eero. It doesn’t appear on the other devices. When you do that all of the eero’s you have setup in HomeKit will be removed.

      Thank you, I was able to remove the accessory from my HomeKit with your advice. Yes, what you said is true I got a reply back from eero customer support stating the same fact is you said that they are waiting for Apple HomeKit certification.

      Unfortunately no, Still no HomeKit compatibly. Still waiting for them. I honestly blame Amazon. Just like Ring was going to make their devices Homekit until Amazon bought them and they never did. Same with Google when they bought Nest, but hopefully I’m wrong with eero.

      Previous models became HomeKit compatible after Amazon had bought eero. This isn’t a question of “if” the eero 6 models will become HomeKit compatible, it’s just a matter of when. From the sounds of it, eero is simply waiting on Apple to approve it—so it’s not even eero’s fault.

      The previous version became HomeKit compatible before company was officially bought by Amazon in March 2019 and it had the HomeKit in February 2019. I had the previous product when it came out. Apple would approved it by now because they approved it before. Its Amazon that what’s Alexa over Apple. But like I said I hope I’m wrong.

      Anthony-Yasin Amazon announced they were buying eero in February 2019. eero publicly released HomeKit support in February 2020 (HomeKit compatibility was available to beta testers prior to February 2020, but only by a few months). And just because a company is owned by Amazon doesn't mean it won't get HomeKit as evidenced by these situations:

      1. eero getting HomeKit earlier this year
      2. Ecobee announcing HomeKit compatibility today for their SmartCamera

      cMoo92 We’ll see, like I said I hope I’m wrong about it. Amazon has done it before. Ecobee is its own company. It’s not owned Amazon if that is what you’re asking.

    So at this point, I feel duped but it's my fault because I wasn't careful enough to read through all the marketing between the 'erro pro' and 'erro 6 pro'. I have a 2,800 sqft home. The 'erro 6 pro' does a great job providing wifi through the house without needing to buy a second device. However, is it worth downgrading to an erro pro or just wait for an update that may never happen?  Thoughts?

      HomeKit on routers offers very little functionality. All it does is let you choose to apply a little more granular security to other HomeKit devices on your network. It can be useful, but it’s not even remotely close to being a deal breaker to me. I would definitely stick with the Pro 6 that you already have.

      cnewman Absolutely just wait it out, friend. Eero developers indicated on Reddit it’s just going through the certification process so it’ll be on it’s way.

    Does anyone know if the HomeKit certification is only for the router or will bridge to all the zigbee accessories connected to it?

    Disappointing. Why add the zigbee router and not fully support it on a par with Hue or SmartThings  Hub

      Dingodogz because each vendor is only allowed by Apple to get their own products certified. That’s how all certifications work. The makers of Hue and SmartThings also do NOT certify all devices to work with their hubs; each much be individually submitted for certification by whoever makes the device. 
       

      Hue and SmartThings also state in their support pages that device certification can take 90+ days to complete.

      Dingodogz and HomeKit is done by Apple, NOT Eero. Eero has no control over it whatsoever. All HomeKit support is done by Apple. 
       

      All Zigbee certifications are also done by the Zigbee Alliance and not Eero. Individual device makers must submit their devices to the Zigbee Alliance for certification.

      Richard1864 think you are not following the intention of my question. The eero 6 is advertised to be a zigbee hub and as such the HomeKit intg should see all accessories connected to the eero otherwise it failed in its goal to eliminate the need to purchase an additional dedicated hub just for that.

      Dingodogz HomeKit and Zigbee are two completely separate things, and do NOT work together.

      Apple TV’s and iPads are the ONLY devices that can be used as HomeKit hubs  

      The Zigbee hub is ONLY for Zigbee devices  

      HomeKit ONLY sees HoneKit certified devices and Zigbee sees ONLY Zigbee devices.

    Sigh, I understand, but it kind of sucks to buy the newest thing and find out it doesn’t support one of these highlighted features. Almost went with the Eero Wifi 5 but got the Eero Wifi 6 mesh network for future proofing. I hope they don’t take long to approve it.
