eero stability issues after upgrade to 7.0.0

Since the upgrade of my eero Pro 6's to 7.0.0, my local network is very unstable, resulting in streaming failures (mostly dropouts) both from the Internet (Netflix, Disney+) as well as local streaming (Jellyfin) to my FireTV, which is wirelessly connected.

I'm very confident this started to appear after the update to 7.0.0. Devices that are directly connected (cabled) don't seem to have any issues.

Unfortunately, eero doesn't have any advanced diagnostics features, so I can't actually see what's happening in these streams to my FireTV. My best guess is that the network is dropping out (timeouts) for a couple of seconds intermittently.

Same issue but may have found the culprit. In short reboot the device connected to your eero gateway. Read on a little so you understand the context. Noticed the issue after the update. Never had the issue before been using eero mesh for 2.5 years. One way I test this is to go to a YouTube video 10+ minutes so it’s large. Try to load it and then skip forward to middle of the video. If it buffers that means the issue persist. If it is almost instant (assuming this is how it was prior to you noticing this issue) then your eero is working as normal. So I have a mesh at home and at my business. However at home I have the eero WiFi 5 version, at business eero 6+ same firmware. At home, I have issue, when I got to my salon, no issue. So I’m thinking ok, eero doing this on purpose so I can upgrade. I went and bought another 3x mesh eero 6+ just like my salon. I installed at my home not by creating a new network but simply replacing the eero one by one with the eero replace option. Guess what? Still same problem, buffering issue, Netflix, YouTube same thing. My T-Mobil 5G router which is my gateway to the internet, can broadcast ssid so I connect to it directly. No streaming issue, this how I knew it was eero from the beginning or at least something between eero gateway pod and my tmobil gateway. I power cycle my tmobil gateway and also changed the cat5 cable, and also plugged to different Ethernet port on eero and tmobil gateway. No problem anymore.

I’m going to wait for tomorrow and next couple of days. Because I did this before (power cycle isp router) but I never tested to this degree because I did not think my eero was the culprit or my tmobil gateway because connecting to it directly thru WiFi never had issue. I’m thinking it’s something between the physical interface of the eero gateway and the isp router port. Something with the actual networking protocols or some form of physical controls built into either the isp gateway or the eero device. Could be collision, filtering or some looping happening. If it happens again, I’m going to look at the tmobil gateway logs. Report back in a few days.

would love to hear your findings. The fact that eero is unhelpful or acknowledging this is very frustrating.  I mentioned earlier i was gonna buy eero systems for a couple more locations but seeing how their support handles this and i have no leads on how to handle im definitely putting it on hold

will do. I been testing it all night so far so good. No streaming issues no buffering so far regardless where I am in the house. Now in the morning all type of devices in the household is generating decent traffic, we will see. In a couple of days if it happens, I’m going to suspect something logical like collission, looping, or maybe physical in the network. I’m starting with the ISP gateway Ethernet interface and the eero gateway and will be making my way downstream. I feel this is where the issue could be residing. I will then test internal network performance. Hosting a video/file on a computer and downloading it. I need to isolate the issue and then start my process of elimination. Very hard for eero to resolve in my opinion. Because they can’t replicate the issue. Now I hope the issue comes back so I can try to find root cause.

to me i realized it happens at random,  places where i notice it the most when i try connecting to my ccrv system hosted on a server inside my home or connecting to that server, or also when i am in my home and i try connecting remotely to my pc at the office.  These things are crucial for me and these are the issues im having mostly.  I can handle a buffer here and there but this is what i need most

My problem with eero pausing intermittently causing device data flow appears to be resolved.  The symptom of all devices hanging while still connected to the eero has not recurred.

Add me to the list. Ever since 7.x my gateway eero has been garbage for WiFi. Swapped the gateway for another pro 6e and problem came back a couple hours later. The nodes seems to be better.

I don't have the time to deal with this and have lost all trust in eero since it would seem they don't test their updates very well. And then when they botch a release the customers are hoping for another update to fix the issue.

I just ordered the Deco xe75 as a replacement. I had no issues for over a year until 7 was released and now it's completely unstable.

Just spent the last 30 minutes reading through the posts.

I am also have issues with the latest 7.x.x firmwares.

I'd like to say that ever since the firmware upgrade to 7.x.x my network has been slightly unstable but nothing that i really thought was due to the eero's, thought it was an end device. One device or two would lose connection and all worked fine after restarting the wifi device. However with the latest 7.1.1-16 firmware it has been miserable. I have emailed support and they have been semi-helpful but no solution til now.

I have a Pro6E as the gateway in bridge mode with 2xPro6E, 5xPro6 and 1xPro all wireless connection [Please Don't ask why so many :)]. Everything was running smooth with no issues with firmwares 6.x.x. I have soft resetted the gateway and also one by one the rest in rolling fashion also. It was fine for at least an hour but then everything went back to being miserable.

I really hope someone from eero first acknowledges their is a problem and second is working on a fix.

+1.  I have even upgraded to 6e in desperation to fix these problems, but it is just turning into a money pit.

I have a lot of smart home devices so my current prediction is something on the network is potentially misbehaving and causing the eero to degrade over time.  I have a 100% success rate of everything returning to normal when rebooting the eero gateway.  But then, inevitably, problems start to occur again.

Without logging, it is impossible to determine what is going on.  Support has been super unresponsive and when they do respond, not helpful.

After having been an eero advocate for 5+ years, I think I'm on my last legs with this one as stability has been an on again off again problem for years now.

Hopefully we get lucky with a fix...
