eero plus - DNS Used?
Hi All,
Before signing up for eero plus, I switched my eero's over to using Open DNS. I've noticed on the app that the ability to change my DNS has been disabled, but what is odd, is that my devices are still using Open DNS. I thought everything ran through ZScaler with eero plus, am I mistaken? My content filtering, etc. works as expected, I'm just confused why everything is set to Open DNS, unless this is by eero's design. I've verified my devices obtain the DNS automatically, so they're getting the Open DNS address from the eero.
Thanks!
Rico

Hey Rico,
Did you ever find out why Open DNS settings seem to have persisted through eero plus? The exact same thing is happening within my setup.

Actually - I set back to ISP (Default) settings for DNS. I use Charter Internet so nslookup returns charter name servers. After turning on Advanced Security and restarting my eero network nslookup still returns charter name servers.
Sooooo... I'm not exactly sure what's going on here... lol.

I'm seeing the same behavior that Rico and jedlami reported...OpenDNS settings persist, even when eero plus is enabled.

Seeing the same issue here. I turned on the trial of Eero Plus yesterday afternoon and my OpenDNS requests immediately flatlined. Seems like an underhanded way to approach network security.

Any updated response from Eero on this?

I had to cancel my plus subscription as the DNS change on Comcast cable kept resulting in massive increase of 503 service unavailable (failed to connect to endpoint) errors. When I disable plus and switch it back to my Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) all these errors go away.
