Mixing pro with standard eero

I’ve just bought an eero pro (1 pack) which I’m pretty sure will give me coverage throughout my house, however if I was to get another would I need to get another eero pro, or would an eero suffice?

i can’t get a beacon as they are not available in the UK yet.

Thanks,

 Stewart

Welcome to the world of eero! You can use any combination of eero you like. They're all compatible with each other. I've got two Pros and two Beacons all meshed wirelessly for example. The new eeros are basically Beacons but with Ethernet ports.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would I lose any functionality using an eero as a beacon with a pro?

Stumcbill I'm assuming you mean using a (new) eero with a Pro. If so, no functionality would be lost. You simply don't have the extra radios (and performance) a second Pro would provide instead. Not everyone needs an "all Pro" system however. I have a two Pro and two Beacon system for example.

David S Yeah, a new eero with eero pro.  So I could setup an eero upstairs, and I would not see any major difference, possibly just slower speeds upstairs?

Stumcbill I doubt you'll see a slowdown with speeds from the non-pro unit if you've maximized node placement. My Beacons for example show the same speed as my Pros - about 10 mbps higher than my ISP plan thanks to over-provisioning by my ISP.

The Pros bring extra radios and a third band to the party which helps cut through congestion if you have alot of client devices all talking at the same time.
