eero Pro 1st vs 2nd generation packaging

I'm looking at purchasing a used or open box Eero Pro system on eBay.   Some of them show the retail box and I've seen a couple of different looks to them and wondered if that's how you tell which is a 1st vs 2nd generation eero.  One is a mostly white box with a picture of the system on the front, black lettering and some red and grey curved accents.  The other one looks like a traditional brown cardboard box with a navy blue label and white lettering and line drawings on it.

Is that a 1st vs 2nd gen or something else?  And if that's not a indicator, what would be an easy way to tell if the generation isn't mentioned in the description?

TIA!

I don't know with 100% certainty, but I'm fairly confident that the 2nd gen comes in the white box with red/gray curved accents.

Ask the seller to provide the model numbers from the sticker on the bottom of each node and each node's serial number. The reason you want the model and serial number is to have eero Support verify they weren't originally supplied by an ISP to one of their customers before you buy them as well as for verifying the generation of the node. If they were supplied to a customer by an ISP (determined by the serial number) and ended up on eBay they're stolen goods and eero (rightly) won't activate them so you're stuck with a bunch of useless paperweights.

Personally I would not buy a used eero system from anyone other than a trusted friend or new from an authorized seller for this very reason. The money you might save isn't worth the risk.

David S THIS- a great many you find are ISP locked and you'll end up with a brick.
