Alternatives to fios-provided broadband router

I’m getting fios 200/200 service in my new house, and I’ve been told I’ll need a broadband router to interface with the external fios fiber box.

I could rent one, but I’d prefer to own.  Fios sells one for $299 that has fancy WiFi features that I don’t want.  Seems a waste to buy something like that and then turn off its WiFi.

I searched for non-WiFi routers but they all tout WiFi features.  Which again is just turn off.

Does anyone know of a non-WiFi router with:  the features needed to support fios media boxes; an Ethernet connection for the eero uplink; and supporting gigabit speed to allow future upgrade in fios speed?

  • The tech said for 200/200 and above an Ethernet connection is provided.  The eeros plugged right in as my firewall/NAT.

  • Frontier FIOS (at least Frontier) requires an ethernet (not coax) on the outside with a new box to bring it into the house. You don't need a modem or FIOS router then at all, it will just pull the IP from the outside then go straight into the Eero and make the first one the "gateway". (Just make sure you release the IP before you turn the FIOS one off or it will take a few hours to reset)
