Real-world speeds

Hey Everyone - I'm curious to know what real world speeds you're all getting on your set-ups.  I have a 1Gb fibre connection and even if I am standing right next to an eero Pro 6E, I won't get more than 600 mbps U/D.  So many youtube videos show people getting over 1 Gbps as they compare one mesh system to another...so I was curious.

What about you?

In your particular case, it sounds like the client device you are testing with is the limiting factor.

I have eero Pro 6 nodes, and have tested up to about 730 Mbps.

That is a very logical guess, but most of my gear is fairly new, including a number of devices supporting WiFi6 (MacBook M1, iPhone 14Pro, etc.)

Piel same here! Unfortunately those devices don’t support 6Ghz or 160Mhz wide channels in 5Ghz, so those speeds you’re seeing are about as good as they’ll ever get.

So am I correct in inferring that you’re getting 700+ on apple kit?

Piel I’ve seen as high as that, but during peak hours when neighbouring networks and other devices in the house are active I get closer to 450 Mbps.

thatsthequy So this might end up being a recommendation for everyone frustrated with their eero system.  I was ready to take my entire kit and burn it given all the problems I was having with it.  So, I decided to do a hard reset and rebuild the network from scratch.

Knock on wood (or touch would if you're from the UK) but it's actually been running great for the last week or so.  I even got for a brief moment 780 mbps download on a wireless connection (MSFT Surface Laptop) - with Speedtest giving a final score of 650 mbps.  I also had one eero 6+ that was destroying my network when plugged in to wired backhaul.  Tech support thought there was a short on the ethernet cable which I couldn't replace because it was in-wall. Nope.  Even that "AP" has been working great via wired backhaul.

So bottom line, if you're having issues with your eero, maybe a hard reset will fix your issues.  It took me less than 30 minutes to rebuild my network with a total of five eeros. So glad I did it.
