Eero Pro 6 / Latest Firmware (v6.6.1-2)

Has anyone applied the new firmware released December 16th (v6.6.1-2)? If so, did it correct the constant drops people have been experiencing?

I purchased a Eero Pro 6 system a few days ago that will be replacing my Linksys Velop system. After reading some of the recent discussions here I'm wondering if I should hold off and send it back? Especially considering the number of Samsung TVs I have in the house. Likewise, Ring devices. It may have been better to pay a bit more and go with the AmpliFi Alien Mesh system.

My Linksys Velop system has been reliable and steady for me the last 4 years. I'd hate to take a step backwards.

I installed it last night, had to restart the network many times for it to take across all 8 nodes. Seems to be working well this morning, but definitely need to wait few days… fingers crossed that dropouts are fixed!!!

ryien I'm going to get mine up and running at some point this evening or tomorrow after the Cowboys' game. Hopefully you'll have an update before then. 😉

OK, so definitely much better but not perfect, still had a couple dropouts and nodes going offline. However in every case they came back on their own after few mins without needing me to restart either the node or the network.

ryien Unfortunately I'm experiencing the loss of connection with various devices even with the most recent firmware.

What's even more discouraging is my work laptop doesn't even see my WiFi network.

I thought disabling WP3 may resolve the issues I'm having, but it didn't.

If I revert back to my Linksys Velop Mesh system all is well.

I updated to 6.6.1-2 today and run the same lengthy ping tests that I've been running for days now, same results, lots of drops :(

Ugh, everything crapped out last night - had to reboot / restart everything again. All the nodes except the gateway went offline, but there was no internet on the gateway anyway. I'm ready to throw in the towel and find another mesh system.

Yep made the mistake to 6.6.0 earlier this month after that one of my nodes started to crap out. Now as soon as 6.6.1 was released I was excited and thought maybe that would fix it. Not so much might be worse now.

Seeing the same problems with 6.6.1-2 as well. It’s a pretty big pain point this occurred during holidays where guests are coming over and experiencing this from an eero device in my house too - not a good impression on eero’s stability.

I just noticed my gateway was always dropping and flashes a red light (causing all other devices connected to my switch to drop) but the hubs would be fine. I swapped the gateway with one of my hubs and testing this out now. Hopefully it works until a fix is pushed out.

Just installed a brand new system at my dad’s. Constantly dropping (probably 3 times in an hour).

We’re just going to return it I guess

I've been getting device drop outs on WiFi since upgrading to 6.6.1. Virtually every device on my network effected, including:

    • Smart Phones
    • Laptops
    • iPads
    • Apple TV
    • Sonos speakers
    • Wemo switches

The iOS drop issue I have previously reported continues here on the latest firmware, though perhaps not as frequently as in the past. I had a stationary iPad drop the other night.

6.6.1 and 6.6.2 are trash. Eero 6 here with two nodes and this is what I get on a gigabit connection. I’ve spent hours troubleshooting with their Support team and to make matters worse, now they won’t respond. A restart of the network will fix the issue temporarily for less than 15 minutes.

Really bummed that I bought two of these systems.

Highly recommend taking it back to all those that can.

I have 3 eero 6 pro, plus an eero 6. I have 80 or so wifi light switches, 20 Google home and Chromecast, computers, a dozen portable devices, servers, thermostats garage door openers, 2 Roomba and many other things. There are over 130 devices connected to my eero system. I have no issues at all. I got the eero because my Asus system tipped over after about 80 devices. Changed to the eero after installing them in a couple other homes of friends, and was very impressed. You could have 50 Samsung tvs and it would not even matter.

dana Speeds are my issue, I can't get anything over 100 mbps on wifi download from anywhere, any device unless I am hardwired.  It's a joke.  I have 1gbps u/d and Just replaced mesh I was getting excellent downloads from.  Wish there was a fix.

I also have been experiencing constant drops and extremely subpar internet speeds at all my devices (I'm talking less than 1Mbps) since 6.6.1.2 rolled out to my devices during the holidays. All of this while the speed test at the gateway is constantly around the 1Gbps mark.

Furthermore, this weekend the gateway just would not connect to the internet and the only way I was able to get it connected again was by deleting my entire network and hard resetting all 3 nodes. This extreme action seemed to resolve all of my issues but after around 10 hours of stability the issues are back.

I've been very happy with my eero system until then and have even recommended it to many friends. Now I have egg on my face because they too have been having these same issues over the past month 😔

Now I find myself once again researching the competition mesh systems to replace this eero as I have lost all faith in the system and the company as a whole!

kevinjpereira Ya I'm getting a "replacement" router from eero tomorrow, I gaurantee it will not fix the issues. I'm sending mine back.

If you had higher speeds before 6.6.1-2, then I would suspect an issue with the firmware for sure. But, as we know, they update firmware frequently and are hopefully aware of the issue, and hopefully, it will be resolved in the next release. One thing I have noticed is that the mobile app no longer states what is in the new update, or any previous updates. Update history just shows a blank page. Though Eero seems to be like many mobile apps where every release just says "bug fixes and performance improvements" without any additional detail. I am a software developer and a technical lead and know we would never get away with that. Every change in each release is detailed and made available to our users. This ambiguous technical double talk would never get past our change management team. I agree that wifi speeds on the eero have slowed from what they were previously.

I have 3 Ring cameras connected to my Eero and haven't had any issues so don't let that put you off.

Having the same issues. I have VZ FIOS and 3 Eero Pros all CAT6 connected. My WebEx meetings have taken up to a few minutes to connect to. Sometimes audio connects first then video sometimes the other way. Loading web sites take up to 30 seconds. SpeedTest at the router (Mac connected via Ethernet) is giving me over 950MB/s.

I have two eero 5 Pro units connected with Cat 5e. The remote node uses an unsupported POE device for power, which has worked beautifully until I installed 6.6.1-2. This resulted in 100Mbps speeds on that node only. Switching to the standard power adapter has been the only way to return to gigabit.

We've had our Eero Pro system for three years and 6.6, especially 6.6.1-2 is the straw that broke the camel's back. This firmware version has been nothing but trouble with each update breaking things worse than the one before. Just created my account to post on this discussion board that we are ditching Eero. Just purchased a Deco mesh from TP-Link.

My pair of Eero Pro 6 are also on 6.6.1-2 with endless intermittent speed drops from 100+ Mbps at speedtest start then down to <1 Mbps at the finishing line, sometimes even ended with internet error !

Feels like the Eero crashed/stalled during the tests.

chanpcw I am having a similar issue. For me, it’s my middle node in daisy chain. The furthest node still works fine. Also, the middle node has good speeds when wired. It’s like it cant emit good wifi. Only receive it. chanpcw
