Poor Performance

I’ve contacted support twice now with no luck.  I’ve got gigabit internet with with a consistent 750-900 Mbps wired speed. I have bridged the ISP router and have the eero connected directly to modem. I also have 2 beacons connected all within 30 feet for each other. My wifi speeds on multiple devices (9) will not receive speeds over 100Mbps. Even within 5 feet. I need some help as it’s been very frustrating. If I disable the eero and connect to my 5G ISP modem I receive at least 600Mbps.  I love how great everything meshes so easily I just wish I could figure out our to get better speeds.  Thanks in advance for all help!

    Hi, Groz – Thanks for taking the time to reach out, and sorry to hear about your concerns here. The eero system should definitely be capable of giving you speeds on par with your ISP equipment: 500-600mbps is definitely possible on eero! 

    With the issues being ongoing, I think it's worthwhile to see whether the issue might be with the hardware itself, or with some other aspect of the placement or environment. In order to fully test the performance, I think that one important thing to try would be to power down all but the primary eero and testing your speeds next to it – if you see the full speeds you should be seeing, then you know the eero is working correctly, and then we can evaluate the placement and the environment. If the speeds on that eero, however, are lower than expected, then we might need to evaluate the performance and functionality of that eero in particular.

    Same exact problem here. I too have AT&T fiber 1gigabit service and have bridged the ISP router (IP Passthrough so the eero gateway has an external IP address). I called once and was given a more or less canned response to set my eero configuration to bridge mode. I had a marginal speed increase (~10-15 mbps repeatable) that was not worth losing all of the other eero features.

    I have never seen anything more than 200 mbps up or down over Wifi using 2nd gen 3 eero pro configuration. My wired speed tests are all above 800 mbps up and down.

    No matter the amount of troubleshooting. It is very disheartening. I know the iPhones and laptops all have wireless (802.11ac) that can do much higher than that. I am of course still not expecting wired speeds over wifi but I would be happy to get closer to hitting the 802.11ac cap.

      alz0rz it’s sad actually.  I’ve tried everything they’ve asked as well. Emailed now even the email support isn’t responding to my request.  I would expect to get atleast half of wired speeds.  I have 2 nvidia shields within 8 feet of each eero and they will connect to 5G but eventually drop to the 2.4G. Wish Eero had better support

    Same issue here. Just upgraded to gigabit FiOS and now eero network is inconsistent.  Some times 400 and sometimes 100.

    I have same issue. New to Eero, have 1Gbps AT&T Fiber. The highest speed I see on my laptop (6 months old, maxed out RAM, upgraded processor) is 350 or so. I have the AT&T Modem with WiFi turned off...and Eero Hub plugged into it.

    Any ideas?

    Same here.  Just got the gen 2, 3 pro setup and have over 900 down.  On the secondary units I get 100 plus.

      Xsquid just got 110 down and 6 up. Over 900 down, 36 up wired.  Crappy

    +1  Has anyone been able to achieve consistent results in the 400'ish range?  I have FiOS gigabit (measured at the ONT direct to computer and through the eero gateway wired of 850+).  Two Eero Pro units connect via Ethernet backhaul.  I get typically 200-250 throughput regardless of distance.  I've changed SSID so only my iPhone 11 (latest iOS13) is connected to eliminate other devices from the equation (normally ~40 devices between wired and wifi across the 3 nodes).  Amplifi and Velop both seem to bounce between 320 and 500 in the house (about 5,000 sq ft on 3 floors) -- maybe 200 in the furthest distant corners.  New devices.  Latest firmware.  Tried bridge mode too.  Turning off QoS.  Seems like odd results for a tri-band on ethernet backhaul.  Thx.

    I have the same issue. Even next to the eero router I can’t get more than 300 Mbps on an iPhone 11 Pro.

    Just wanted to add my case. On AT&T 1000 Internet with the modem (NVG599) in IP-Passthrough, I've rarely gotten over 300Mbps wireless, even next to the main Gateway eero. My eero Pro network is hardwired via Cat-6 Ethernet and has no problem reaching ~900Mbps on a hardwired connection. I used to have a Linksys EA9300 that would consistently pull 450-550 Mbps down and up, but went with eero for better coverage and reliability.

    Same here, ever since upgrading to FIOS a year ago, trying the BGW210 then NVG599 gateways.

    I've read that these routers throttle the connection in a way that can't be overcome, but that the latest one (Pace 5268) DOES allow passthrough without a significant slowdown.

    Can anyone confirm this?  I've pressed AT&T to get a 5268 but have not had success.

    Same scenario for me, but it is just intermittent. Speeds on eero today are 100/95, but my gig fiber AT&T service is >950 with multiple testing sites. 

    Yesterday my eero speed check was 955/925. I get that consistently for a day or two then it just drops to <100 for a # of days. No change in my eero's locations whatsover. 

     

    Have restarted main eero and satelites a # of times as well. My main eero is hard wired to the modem in the data stack in the wall (new house all pre-wired).

    I have found their tech support incompetent, Ignorant and poor. I am trying to reach CEO Nick Weaver to let them know when a customer spends $650-$700 on a product their expectation is a quality product not a garbage!!! If you dont regard your customers you will be Nortel Networks, WorldCom and bunch of other companies that have vanished..................Listen to your customers!!!

    Same here. 1gb coming into the home and can’t get 100gb out of eero.  Tried everything incl2 hours with eero CS.

    Please flood the social media so that ignorant attitude of this company changes. I will do my part to tell Millions. These guys don't care. The companies that don't listen to voice of customers don't exist very long........This is stupid you should not have to get on the phone with them every day to resolve the issue.

      Ok, what company is it that cares?  I had an orbi system before this one and it and netgear was worse.  Not saying there’s not one, just would like to know where there is a good mesh product with good support.  It’s sure not eero or orbi.

    Proof of slow speed.  Home speed from fiber is consistent 551Mbps.  I've been dealing with this for 1 month. I will be keeping a log/email.  They blame "spamming" of other devices.  They claim they need to "wait" for level 2 techs to fix, which do reply but never fix. They say it is my network, yet can not tell me which one is "spamming".   Very frustrating since I HATE the denial of a problem which is still not fixed.  KEEP IN MIND< IT WORKED AT THE BEGINNING WITH NO PROBLEM.  Update changed everything.  I have unplugged/disconnected everything to prove not working properly.    I asked for refund, of course they would not do so.

      Cmp Well, I went to costco and purchased a Nighthawk (best one) and everything is running as it should. Eero NEVER fixed the issue. Very poor customer service, I feel like I was their Ginnie pig to help them fix whatever the issue was in my home.  Now they lost a customer.

    I have experienced poor performance over wifi with eero Pro 6 AX4200. I tried everything but it is very poor compared to other wifi 6 systems. I did keep it past the return time because it was stable however with the latest update I have noticed that it is not as stable as it once was and it drops connections and I lose wifi seemingly randomly throughout the day. I have had to reboot a couple of times during the week over the last several weeks. I am looking at an alternative system now because of these issues.

    I was also very frustrated with the slow speed when connected to the uverse pace modem. I have discovered that the ethernet port on the router that the EERO was connected to was only running at 100mbps and that the other ports were running at 1000mpbs. After switching ports the wifi started running at true gigabit speeds.
