Anyone have a Sense.com sensor on their Eero network?

I recently bought an energy monitor for my house. After installing it yesterday, I tried to get it on my home Eero network, but it wouldn't connect. Then I noticed on their support page https://help.sense.com/hc/en-us/articles/208709037-Monitor-not-connecting-to-Wi-Fi:

Note: Sense is not currently compatible with 5 Ghz networks.

Which seems insane, but anyway... the sensor is just a few feet away (separated by a wood wall) from one of my six Eero base stations, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to fix this, since Eero support says "We don't have a timeline on frequency separation".

I have various old Apple base stations that I can hook up and (if I remember right) setup a 2.GHz network just for the sensor, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better suggestion...

    Thanks for writing in and I'm sorry to hear the trouble you are having with your Sense device.

    Although the device isn't compatible with 5 Ghz networks, it should still work perfectly fine with eero. It'd be great to see if anyone here has any experience with this device and can provide some tips.

    For example, with another device out there that was dependent on the 2.4 Ghz channel, a user noticed that the device wouldn't connect to their network due to there being spaces in their network name (SSID). That may not be the case here, but sometimes there are some interesting workarounds out there that help resolve these types of things!

    Jeff C. Jeff C. Well, I posted here because that the suggestion from "Rod" in Eero customer support. Would love to get some more help in troubleshooting. I also reached out to the folks at sense.com at the same time yesterday, have not heard anything back yet.

    Ah, glad Rod pointed you here 😀

    I did a little digging myself and it looks like Sense has a known issue with mesh networks posted in their community:

    Sense having issues with mesh networks
    We believe this is caused by an issue we have uncovered when Sense roams between APs, especially when frequently roaming - more to come on this shortly.

    I'll pass this feedback along to our team as well.

    Thanks for the sleuthing! I think I will set up an airport base station either off my Comcast router or the nearest Eero base station and see if I can set up a small 2.45GHz network for the Sense to get onto the net. Not much value to me if it's just talking to itself.

    drwave It's always fun seeing a fellow Sense user in the wild... like being in Fight Club.

    I have only ever had 1 connection issue with it and it was likely my fault (I forced a firmware update on the remote nodes first and it roamed to them when the closer node updated). My basement/primary Eero node is about 15 feet from my electrical box and in line of sight. I've seen on the Sense community that you are not alone and that a cheap repeater will fix your issue.

    I hung an Airport TimeCapsule off my nearest Eero base station and restricted it to a 2.4GHz network, and my sense hopped on, so I'm good.

    Ah, well I'm sorry to hear you've had to rely on some of your older hardware for the time being,  drwave 😕

    As soon as they fix the bug on their end, eero will be ready to handle your Sense monitor.

    Knock on wood I've never had any issues with my sense and connecting to my eero network.   Still a bit mixed on the value sense is bringing but I view it as a beta product at the moment....still waiting for it to find my microwave again...after it lost it.
