Eero/Beacon Directional?

How does the wi-fi signal emminate from the Eero and the Beacon? From all sides? Unidirectional? ect.  Can the signal be ‘pointed’ by how you place the unit?  Thanks

........sorry, I don’t see an Edit option.

    • Aim high. eeros radiate their signal more upwards than downwards, but mostly along the plane they’re placed on. It’s best to place your eeros at a height halfway between the floor and the ceiling, not on the ground.

So, does that mean the signal emminates from the face (the nice looking side with the Eero logo printed on it), and from around the edges outward? But not so much from the bottom/back of the units?

Mike A I don’t know the exact technicals specs (we’d need an eero person to answer that), but I’m positive it’s an omnidirectional antenna (meaning it goes out in all directions). That being said, it doesn’t mean it’s the same signal strength in all directions. One of the eero engineers said at one point that most of the signal goes out on the same plane, and some goes up.

Now I assume the design has to be a little different for the beacon because they know that most of the time, it will be plugged in on a wall outlet which is lower than where most devices are, so I assume that it’s strongest signal is more upwards than straight out.

    Thanks.

I’m moving them around for better performance hopefully and the thought of the actual positioning of the eero/beacon units came to mind.

I’d love to have an engineer post a pic of how the signal fans out on both units. Might make a difference of what height and which direction to face them.
