Google products causing intermittent wifi drops

https://9to5google.com/2018/01/15/google-chromecast-home-wifi-outage/

Anyone experiencing this? I have 3 Chromecast and a Google home, and am finding it hard to tell if it's these or something else.

Eero developer on Reddit says they control the issue already.

  • No problems with eero and those google products. On other mesh systems like Velop and Orbi, there are huge problems. Eero seems to have dealt with it already.

  • Just goes to show that the eero people had the foresight of preventing  / being proactive for these kinds of problems before they bumped into them, unlike Orbi, Velop etc. who are more into a reactive/damage control mode at the moment.

  • This (repeated rebooting) of the Orbi was why I don't have one now. I assume they are going to get this handled at some point, but I was at the end of my return window, and family was not happy losing wi-fi repeatedly every day.  :(

  • I have/had 4 Orbis.  I have now dumped them since NetGear seams unable to fixed the disconnect problem.  I tried every suggestion even those that sounded like "magic" to no avail.  I'd rather throw the Orbis away, which I did, than throw everything else away.  What an expensive mistake.  Thank goodness for eero :-)

    • tchester@gmail.com  Exactly why I did too... I did sell mine and recover about 2/3's of my investment.
