Eero Plus?

So when I got my eero system, I purchased eero plus for $99. I love the possibilities of it. I was pumped about this because eero niche (in my opinion) is software.

But I am having trouble receiving my reports from eero. In 6 to 8 weeks of having the eero plus plan, I've received one report 11/23-11/30. I've called them and emailed several times. eero support offers the same canned answer every time about how I will receive them on Fridays. But I'm not receiving the reports at all, and they seem to ignore that. I am currently waiting to hear back over email. It seems I was passed to someone else and the conversation has started over.

So my question is this anyone else's experience? Have you received your reports? I realize sometimes things can get weird on servers. But the lack of clarity from support is concerning. Let me know.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for discussion. Just figured I would get real answers here.

  • This is a problem for a lot of Plus customers right now.  There is a reddit thread about it, as it isn't isolated.

  • Hi  kodyaten

Welcome to the eero community and thanks for your post.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been receiving your eero Plus emails. I have escalated this to our team, and they will begin to take a look as we can confirm that others are still receiving their weekly email.

If you haven't yet, please check your spam folder. Also, by any chance, have you changed the email on your eero account since signing up for eero Plus?

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

  • I haven't received a report for two weeks.   Before that I missed a report every other week or so.  Support always says they will look into it, but...

I have complained many times on this forum that eero plus is a major disappointment.  The report lacks any usable detail and delivery is random. I would go back to my Cujo setup if eero itself wasn't such a great mesh system. I hope that eero fixes eero plus or maybe work with Cujo to intergrate their technology with the eero mesh network without the current cumbersome bridge setup.

On another note, since the eero plus subscription includes the weekly summary report, shouldn't a refund or credit be given each time when the report is not provided?

    • applejax I totally agree with your remarks in regards to the Eero and Cujo working well with one another. If Eero can fix this without the complicated setup, that would be super. I could not get the two to function together. Eero Plus is too much and as others have said, lacks many other features that the Cujo and other firewall devices.

  • how is the rest of the plus stuff?  Does the VPN work well, and not lower your wifi speeds?

was it easy to setup the VPN?

    thanks

  • As far as the add-ons to eero Plus security, they are not a real value to me.  I use, and am totally satisfied with, Dashlane for my password manager and ipVanish for my VPN;  I did add Malware Bytes, but it has not found one item that was not caught by my secuity program Webroot Secure Anywhere.

I will probably be cancelling eero plus because I do not think that the security aspect it works at all.

  • I received one Eero Plus report on Dec 22, and now one on Jan 5. I started on Dec 15, so that's about right so far.

My problem is that the report is useless in terms of providing any info on what to investigate/follow up on - my reports notes a number of different "threats" including Malware, Phishing, etc., yet provides me now info which clients these threats originated from, or the name/ID of the threat.

C'mon, Eero team, provide some useful info - the "threat" report feels like it was created by your Marketing team to keep folks subscribing ("Oh, look at all the scary stuff!") rather than a report that customers can use to improve their network security.

Jeff C. - how can we get additional information on the threats that Eero Plus says it is finding?

  • Got my eeros today. Easy setup.  Winner.

Installed trial eero Plus. Was running ExpressVPN and Bitdefender for antivirus (although only my Mac computers, not iPad nor iPhone).  Found that Eero Plus added bloat  ... evidence shown in lag in my 8 Nest cams (blue circular line).  Removed eero Plus and started up ExpressVpn and Bitdefender.

Running 50 devices, Eero Plus seems to lag my system, especially the cams, so I won’t be taking the subscription

txgunlover wow you must be running NASA with over 90 devices going. My eeros been going about 8 hours and everything is good. Nest cams doing well without the Eero Plus ... that’s where I noticed some lag so went back to ExpressVpn.

  • Wish it came with Dashlane. I dont see myself dropping it for a lower class offering in 1password. Mallwarebytes only has 3 device license, which isnt enough for a family. Such a shame, if the clinet security offerings we're better, I'd jump on board.

  • I mentioned this on Reddit but here it is again...

While I was away on the weekend, eero Plus carried out 11,000+ inspections just in the last 18 hrs before I returned... This was while nobody was home and I left my 40 or so devices running as usual.

Moral of the story: a simple antivirus isn't enough. Antivirus runs only on computers. Home electronics are super active 24hrs a day. What takes care of internet connections for lights, thermostats, cams etc while you're away?  Glad to have eero Plus covering my back for the whole house.

cotedan87 This makes sense theoretically, but is there any real world example that eero plus blocks? I have had essentially zero blocked threats. I think most connected devices have reasonably good security. I'm not saying there is no place for eero plus, but am just wondering if it is really doing anything for me or if it is a placebo effect.

dankirsh good critical thinking. The fact that I had 11,000+ inspections in just 18 hours, with nobody at home, meant my system was very active though

My worries stem mostly from the connecting websites (.e.g Philips Hue) being highjacked someone and those devices in my home beginning to behave badly. At least with eero Plus it’s a double check. If the end site doesn’t seem right, it’s blocked.

last week eero Plus blocked 6 sites.  The week before, a few more.

  • Used to have so-so weekly email reports but now happening more regularly. Not sure what’s going on. At least you have the in-app reports, but still would be nice to have the weekly summaries (or be able to have them through the app).
