iOS 14 Private MAC Address Option
Just a heads up for any of you (like myself) that are running the iOS 14 Beta on any of your devices. In Wi-Fi settings for the network you’re connected to, there is an new option for “Private Address”. This creates a new random MAC address for your device each time it connects to the network. I couldn’t figure out why I kept getting all these “a new device joined” alerts when it was my same devices.
For some reason this setting was automatically on for a few of my devices. Now I’ve got this big list of devices in “Recently Online” that are clogging up my Home Screen since you can’t delete them. I had read somewhere that these eventually disappear but in my case they’ve been there for a few weeks. This new feature also kills any filtering you may have set up for existing devices as they look like a new device each time their address changes. I had to go turn that setting off to get my eero network back to normal.
