Ethernet connections change when connecting Eero

I have been trying to figure out an issue with my LAN when connecting the EERO system. I have my ISP modem connected to a switch that feeds other ethernet devices in my basement, then another switch upstairs that feeds other ethernet connections upstairs. When I connect the EERO system to the switch on the lower level, some of the ethernet devices on both levels stay connected to the switches but say they are on an unidentifiable network and have no internet connection. When trying to connect my laptop directly to either switch, I get a 169 IP... If I remove the EERO and reboot everything, the ethernet connections fully connect and have internet connection. I am a novice at local networking and can't understand why the EERO is causing this issue.

Is your eero network running in “Bridge mode”? That’s what it needs to be running in, since you’re letting your ISP modem/router act as the primary router.
