Same phone showing up as new device each time it connects

My son has an iPhone SE (latest model). Every time he puts the screen to sleep his phone gets disconnected from the Wifi. After he wakes it up and reconnects to the Wifi his phone shows up as a new device. I have to keep adding his phone to the same profile.

There is no way to delete all the previous connections.

I'd like for two things to happen.

1. Have his wifi connection persist even when his phone is a sleep. When it reconnects it needs to maintain the same profile.

2. Have an ability to delete devices that are no longer actively connected to my network.

iOS (and Android and Windows) do this as a privacy feature where the device generates a new MAC address each time it connects to a wifi connection. This is a privacy feature because it helps prevent networks from tracking you. You can disable this on your son's phone by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and then tap on the (i) icon next to your network name. Then turn off the option for "Private Wi-Fi Address".

In regards to your issue about being able to delete the devices, you don't need to do anything. They will automatically fall off the network list in the app after a week or so.

I’m assuming you want to control the content since you mentioned profile? Every phone and computer does have security features in which they will change making it look like a new connection to your internet. If you go to port forwarding, you can reserve his IP address or go to his phone settings on the WiFi and turn on configure IP automatically. Many cellular companies will allow you to request a static IP for free or a minimal charge. There is also a way to turn off private settings. Here is the link for that: https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048445752
