IP address of devices in guest network

Please correct me if I'm wrong but when I create a guest network I can rest assured that devices that connect to that network can't break into the main network, correct? On this line of questioning, isn't part of that security the fact that the up address range on The guest network is different than the main network (i.e. 10.x.x.x vs 192.x.x.x)? I am consistently seeing some clients connect to the guest network and get IPs in the IP range of the main network.
