Eero Plus, Advance Security Slowdown

I'm sure this has been covered, but with the last update, having 'Advance Security' on slows my wifi down a lot.  We're talking 25-30% lower.

Today, I noticed that with AS on, it wouldn't let me pull up sites like Google.  It timed out.  The moment I went into the app and toggled it off, it worked fine...  And the wifi speeds were back to what you should expect from a 1gb connection.

For now, it remains off.  I've had this system for a little over a year and this is my first real issue with the hardware/software.  I hope they can fix this with future updates.

  • Can’t say I’ve had that experience. ZScaler is a very fast DNS resolver. Will continue to monitor, but so far, so good. Others such as CleanBrowsing work well but it’s about 3x slower.

  • So I am not running Adv Sec on mine and I am seeing a big slow down for some reason. In the past, my average WiFi speeds were about 250mbps. The last couple of days, I started noticing a lot of messages on WebEx stating low bandwidth and really bad WiFi calling. I decided to run some tests. They are at about 110 consistently now and sometimes even slower. I plugged my laptop directly into my ISP modem and am getting 330 from them. I then plugged the laptop into my EERO gateway and am seeing about a 100mbps drop on a hard wire. I removed the EEROs from the network and reset the whole thing and am still seeing this. It looks like others have seen the same results after the last refresh. Have not been happy with EERO lately...seems like the feature requests and these comm posts fall on deaf ears. Hope they do something different soon...am looking at switching to Synology and told my neighbor to hold off on buying this product.

      As for advanced security, we have a fast DNS resolver and have not had any issues with WiFi speeds when using it. We did have a stability blip at the beginning of September and worked hard with Zscaler (our partner) to solve it.
