Connecting to legacy wifi devices

Bought a new Anthem receiver (by Paradigm).  Top of class amp.... but its wifi cannot connect to eero nor to Google Wifi, but it’s can connect to my Arris modem. Interesting. Would be nice for the eero to handle this invisibly but that’s just wish list I guess.

Another wish list item... My wired mesh system suffered a loop through one of the bad connections on the home network. Connection was back to the main switch. Have identified the bad connection - but in an ideal world, the eero would recognize it and go wireless.  It did not in this case - the whole network came crashing down. Not eero’s fault ... but would be nice if it could recognize and handle such situations.

Still lovin’ my 4 eeros (one of them now wireless :(.

Is the receiver close to another eero or network switch? That way you could just hardwire it in.

cMoo92  yes the receiver is close enough to wire into the (wireless) eero point, and it worked well to update the receiver. My inner self dislikes Wi-Fi in favour of wired though.  Once your soul is wired, always wired :).

cMoo92 if there is anything that came out of having to go wireless with the one eero point ... I have 5 less Ethernet cables and one less switch messing up the back of the receiver now. There is a silver lining to this.

cotedan87 I’m not understanding why you had to take out the switch. Even though your eero isn’t wired into the main network anymore, you can just connect the local switch to your eero that has the wireless backhaul..

cMoo92 mybad. Should have added that I still can plug the switch into the wireless eero point. You’re right in that count. Now that I’ve spent 24 hrs going wireless with the tv room (5 devices), things are still pretty fast. Signal strength shows as strong.

I guess living with a wireless eero point is pretty good despite my initial trepidations. Only thing is that my LIfx lightbulbs are a bit sensitive to interference etc so there’s always one or two of them per day that don’t want to obey commands. Such is life.

Thanks again for keeping us in our feet :)  Have restarted with Eero Plus and it seems to be speedy now. Yay. How is your system chugging along ....
