Another "bridged mode" question

I have a Gryphon router which I plan to keep as my primary router and add some eero products in bridge mode.  How do I setup the SSID and password for the eero devices?  Do I make the Eero SSID and password identical to the Gryphon router?

Thanks for reaching out, teslapod , and welcome to the Community! That's a great question, and it mostly comes down to what you're trying to accomplish. With the eeros in Bridge mode, the eero will share the same LAN whether or not the eero's SSID/PW match the Gryphon's, so it mostly just comes down to a question of convenience for you.

If you're using the Gryphon router for its features, and plan to have the eero be the main source of wireless signal in the home, then using the exact same SSID & password will allow your devices to seamlessly join the eero once its set up. If you plan to leave Gryphon WiFi enabled, then setting the eero SSID to something unique might be preferred so you can tell the two networks apart in your WiFi settings.

If you have any other questions or concerns, definitely feel free to let me know, or give us a ring at 877-659-2347 so we can go over things further. Glad to have you here on the Community, and we hope you have a great day!

    Kindly,
    Drew, eero Community Team

    Hi Drew,

I just called tech support for their help with this. The person I spoke with was great, but felt I could not make the two devices work together. I want eero to be our WiFi system, and Gryphon to be in place for the monitoring it can do for me. Will you give me a step-by-step of how to set this up? Many thanks!
