Change IP Range

Hey guys, I am new to eero and have six Eeros and one Eero Beacon covering a pretty large house. One of the devices on the network has default ip of 192.168.1.20 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0.

My Eero network is using the default prefix of 192.168.0.0... So, I think I need to change this prefix to 192.168.1.0 in order to access this device. I believe I've found where to do this in the Eero app (Network Settings/DHCP/Advanced).

My questions:

1. Once I make these changes, will all of the Eero devices on the network will reset to the new IP range?

2. Will I need to make any changes to any of the other devices on the network if the SSID and password stays the same?

3. Any other pitfalls I should avoid before doing this?

Thanks a ton,

Ryan

  • It will be easier to change the device to DHCP so it picks up an address from eero.  Or, change the subnet mask on it to 255.255.0.0.  You can change the IP range of your eero as you suggest, and that's perfectly fine.  But you will have to reset all of your devices.  Easiest is to simply restart, but a Windows PC can get a new IP by issuing ipconfig /release then ipconfig/renew at command prompt.  Mobile devices you can simply switch off the wifi and back on again and they should get a new IP.  Printers and what not you can just turn them off and on again.
