Feature Request: Enable integration with HomeAssistant for Device Tracking

There is probably a 0% chance this will even be considered by the eero team, but I"ll suggest it anyways.

Many routers and access points work with integration with a Home Automation open source project called Home Assistant.  Examples of which devices are supported:

  • Ubiquiti
  • DDWRT
  • OpenWRT
  • Netgear
  • AsusWRT
  • Cisco
  • Aruba
  • ActionTec

Basically what this is, is that the integration allows HomeAssistant to know the location of a device based on when it connects to the network.  This allows some neat home automation scenarios like "When HomeAssistant detects I'm home, turn on the Lights and play the Sonos".

This is clearly a geeks features, but these little things matter and help lock in.

Jeff C. another Home assistant user here. Replaced my DD-WRT Router with eero and getting great WiFi coverage and speeds, but sadly lost the ability to track what devices are on the WiFi.

many ways to report out to various home automations system.

      1. Specific tool for each system (complete integration)

      2. Generic system - serve up either MQTT state/commands, or use a rest API, or some other way those services could subscribe to.

the Home Assistant community is very active. If someone is willing to put in a little time this would be well received!

I use SmartThings all over the house (40ish devices now I think) and it does something similar. Eero 1.0 had some issues dealing with all the noise, but Eero 2.0 has been very solid. I've never used Home Assistant (researching now), but I'm all for ANY kind of integration; especially if it means I get to buy new tech :D

I would love to see this feature too! I use Home Assistant to control my home and it would be great to just talk to eero to see which devices are home for presence detection.

I am definitely interested in this as well for presence detection.  Although I do happen to use Home Assistant, this could be generally useful by creating a way to expose when DHCP leases are issued to a particular MAC address, or when a MAC address is learned again at L2 by the network would work.

I, too, would love to see some official support for integration for presence detection.

This would be terrific. I am a new Home Assistant user, and switched to eero from Velop because I needed the stability. Presence detection opens a whole world of potential automations. Thank you for considering

Following this to see if Eero provides anything official. In the meant time, I'll check out the community work:

This would be fantastic to have.

Hopefully eero will do it :)

And also share the zigbee devices with HA could be great!

Bump, new HA user here with a mesh network of Eero Pro 5 devices. Was hoping to use network-based presence but it seems like that's not possible without this integration.

any position on this? I'm from Brazil and I want to automate my house with the help of eero 6 using Home assistant. Integrate zigbee devices and so on. There are a lot of friends wanting this too...

    Thanks

I just migrated from Smartthings to Eero Pro 6 and was surprised to not find an integration.  Guess I should've done my homework better.  Adding my vote for this.

That would be very useful for me as a Home Assistant user to have an Eero integration, as this would provide useful information to use for either presence detection purpose, namely but also other use cases. I hope this thread finds it's way in this big corporation.
