Reboot scheduler for eero system
However the device or system functions normally, it is a recommended practice by the device manufacturers and software vendors, advise their users to power cycle it in order to clean up its current memory, bring back the efficiency of the functions running in, clogged connections or other such performance affecting factors being run in those devices. I came across this feature in other routers and firewalls as well. This feature is currently not provided by eero system. So eero should consider providing this reboot scheduler for its system in order to bring back its devices to top performance notch by this reboot.

is there an API i can use to call the reboot?

Coming from a Netgear router, this was one of my favorite features. While my Eero lasts longer than other routers I have tried, it still needs restarted every few days. It would be great to have the Eero either recognize this on it's own, or have an option to restart daily in the middle of the night.

Putting in my 2 cents for this feature. I also find my system getting Lethargic if I don't perform a System Restart every couple of days. I would use an automated feature daily. My other option is to use an Automation from my Hubitat Hub and turn off 4 Z-Wave Switches and restart them daily (I have a total of 4 eero Pros). This will work with Hubitat as Z-Wave devices run locally without Wifi and Internet. However, I do not think this is the ideal method to restart a Mesh Wifi Network.

Working from home, I have to reboot about every 1 to 2 weeks or conference calls will start having trouble.

We have to reboot once per week or internet speeds drop to a trickle. As soon as the eero has power cycled internet is fine again

It seems that the easiest way is to put the eero that is connected to the modem on a timer and schedule it that way. It would be nice to have a scheduler built into the app so you could schedule reboots for all of your eero devices that are on the mesh system.

Enjoy the Eero so far but everyone is correct after about a week you can see the speed test is getting around 6-7mbps down. Restart the Eero network and back to normal speeds. My Asus wifi had a weekly reboot schedule.

I purchased two smart plugs and set them to turn off both my eero devices each morning for 2 minutes and then power them back up. I use the TP Link Kasa Mini Smart Plugs. You can get 4 for about $30. I only had one initially on the router and it forced all my devices to the other eero device so I found it necessary to restart both at the same time so they would load balance based on distance.

They say each time they apply an update, the eero will restart. Well that is not always true. You released 6 updates and the last restart date on my eero system was Sept 27th, 2020. So, since the programmers for got the restart command and scheduler in the app would be good. This made my eero network unstable and cost me 4 hours of work on the phone with network support at my company.

I fixed my problem by putting in a EdgeRouter and setting the eero to bridge mode their mesh is fantastic the router is garbage. I haven't had to reboot my system for 2 months and all my boys are home gaming over the holidays.

I bought 2 TP Link Kasa Smart Plugs and installed them on my main eero and the 2nd one. I have them set to turn off at 6:00am and then turn on at 6:01am - 7 days a week. It keeps everything fresh and running great.

One of my eero pro (I have 8 in a large home all connected by cat6) occasionally overheats from being in a hot garage and drops down to either 100mbps “okay” or even 10mbps ”poor” wired data rate. It never recovers even after it cools down. No automatic restart, no self healing, it simply remains at the slower rate until I manually reset it. This is one example where I would benefit from a scheduled restart.

Yes! Exactly. I pay $105 a month for gig speed internet and I’m running an Eero 6 which seems to decay every day on speed. Each time I manually reset there’s a huge speed jump. Why can’t this be a feature to reset each night at 3AM?
-
Thanks for the reply. I was not aware it takes hours to do so. I guess it really just boils down to what is the actual problem ? After resetting, more often than not, I'm pulling 100+ mbps download speeds where if I do not reset it, after a few days it's back in the tens of mbps download speed sitting in the same room.

My eero router locks up almost once a day, which requires a reboot of the unit that is connected to the hardwire internet connection. I ended up putting a Smart Plug on the unit that runs on off a wifi from another router so I could remotely reboot it when I am away from home. Very frustrating.

+1 for reboot scheduler. Almost every other router I've owned has this, why not Eero.

I use a TP Link Kasa plug and have one on each of my Eero devices (probably not a bad idea to have one on your ISP modem) and set it to go off and on for 1-2 minutes every night around 3-4am. I set the Kasa plug to the Wi-Fi on my isp router (which has a separate SSID than my Eero, so that I can manually turn it off and on without disconnecting myself from the Eero Wi-Fi. : ) Kasa Smart Plug Ultra Mini: https://a.co/d/22rGaIy

So nothing on this either eero?

Take your pride out of it and listen to your users. No matter what you say. A scheduled restart would make your product perform much better and make your users happy. I'm gonna put a old fashion lamp timer on my stupid eeros to do this. I will not reccommend eero to anyone. Get this instead ASUS ZenWiFi Pro AXE11000 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Mesh System

I agree. I don’t believe Nick Weaver the CEO of Eero even looks at these. I would recommend emailing him nick@eero.com. I had to do this when I found a bug and until I got him involved, tech support just ignored me and kept sending stupid FAQ documents that had nothing to do with the bug (they didn’t understand IPv6 DHCP settings) Eventually I got tech supports attention and a real nice agent worked with the developers and issued a new firmware update and fixed the issue.
