Why does Eero use 191.168.7.x DHCP

Wondering why the Eero is setup for 192.168.7.x DHCP range...traditionally majority of my routers have defaulted to 192.168.1.x and I never thought about it too much.

I modified the Eero DHCP to my "normal" 192.168.1.x DHCP lease range (I have a couple devices the family accesses via drive mapping and keeping them at their 192.168.1.x IP addresses is simpler than getting everyone to update their drive mapping).

Anyway, curious why Eero chose 192.168.7.x range.  Any logic, or is this a "just because I want to" decision?

  • You can use any private range.   I've used 172.18.x.x for almost 2 decades on my home networks.

txgunlover Thanks, I'm aware I can use whatever I want for the lease range. Just wondered why they chose the defaults they did.
