eeros router will not connect to cable modem

Strange situation. I cannot get my router gateway node to connect to my Spectrum cable modem. As soon as I connect the ethernet cable from the eeros to the modem  the internet light on the modem turns yellow and the gateway node just keeps blinking unable to connect. Strange thing is if I connect the modem to my old router (working as a switch) and then feed the eeros I get full connection. Why can't I get direct connection to the eeros without going through the old router (switch)?

  • Hello,

If your modem is a stand alone modem you might need to do a 3-5 minute power cycle on the modem to have it release the IP assignment. Stand alone modems only have the public IP address to assign and once it is assigned they usually do not like sharing that IP address with other devices, even if the previous device is disconnected. Try power cycling the modem for 3-5 minutes and then connect the eero up.

    Thank you,
