Connect Eero devices from upstream router devices

Hi, Here is my scenario.

I have a router that connects to ISP and it has NAT configured.  Some of my devices are connected directly to this router.  The NAT IPs are 192.168.1.x.  My eero is connected to this router and is assigned an IP of 192.168.1.4.  The eero network is configured to use range from 192.168.4.x.  All devices connected to eero can ping/connect to devices in main router 192.168.1.x network.  But none of main router devices (192.168.1.x network) can ping/connect to eero devices (192.168.4.x).  I have tried port forwarding as well.  What I am missing here?

To fix this, you would need to either put all your devices behind the eero, or put your eero network into Bridge mode.

The devices connected to main router, that is a FortiGate firewall, are SERVERS that host websites.  The devices behind eero are desktop CLIENTS connected to wifi.  This setup is working for me.  I just needed to connect a SERVER to CLIENT for some testing and I was wondering if that was possible with this setup.  I cannot put SERVERS behind eero and cannot use bridge to avoid security issues.  If it is not possible to connect SERVERS to CLIENTS with this setup, I can live with that.
