0Daisy Chain or not?
Just purchased eero 6+ with the three (3) modules. Planning on using one as my gateway, then will hardwire the remaining two modules in a “daisy chain” fashion which I think is called “backhaul” by Wi-Fi folks. Will use CAT 5e or CAT 6 cable. Third module will connect to a gigabit switch which will connect to two other gigabit switches bc our wired devices are spread out. Diagram shows what I’m thinking, but it’s not cast in concrete so if I’m not doing the best setup, I’m open to suggestions.-Mike

That topology will work fine, but it will be really hard to troubleshoot if you have an issue since there are so many “links in the chain”. It would be better if you could put a switch behind the Family Room eero and then run have independent runs to each of your other switches.

This topology will work fine. The one that cMoo92 suggested is better. With the current suggested topology if either the Basement or Garage gets really busy it may slow down things on the wired network.

Something like this? BTW, the “X’s” indicate a probable hard wire connection to a device.

Now I just have to make sure all my cables are at least 5e or better, right?

CamaroMike 5e or Cat 6, going higher spec than that doesn't make sense from a cost effective perspective. Having a good quality cat 5e cable is preferable to a cheap cat 6

Just curious, if anything (tv, whatever) is connected to a switch with say… CAT 5 Ethernet cable will that degrade Wi-Fi performance and/or wired performance? In that case, would I be better off using Wi-Fi for that device? Also, when I set this up, I intend to rename the network and probably use a new password. Since the old gateway will be gone, will it be gone from my the listing on my devices? And does the eero 6+ gateway need or have 2.4 and 5 gig connections and primary and guest connections? In that case, would I be better off using Wi-Fi for that device? : Depends on the wireless capability of the device and how much speed you need that device to get, give it a whirl, see how it works.
Also, when I set this up, I intend to rename the network and probably use a new password. Since the old gateway will be gone, will it be gone from my the listing on my devices? : most likely yes, the eero will be running its own NAT and only devices on that NAT will show in connected devices
And does the eero 6+ gateway need or have 2.4 and 5 gig connections and primary and guest connections?: eero will use both 2.4 and 5ghz on the same network name/SSID. eero does have its main network and you can setup a guest network as well
