Eero not well suited to UK modem/routers? Will it cause issues?
Hello all,
I have just invested in an Eero 3 pack to replace an existing BT Whole Home system I had, I did this because I am now having to work from home and I am trying to improve my connectivity.
During setup the app told me to disconnect my router and plug the Eero directly into my modem, but in the UK most modems are modem/router in one, and in many cases there is no option to turn these into bridge mode.
I found an Eero article that says that if using a combined modem/router you must either set the modem/router into bridge mode OR set the Eero system to bridge mose (but they recommend against this).
I have access to either a BT Hub 5 or a BT Smart Hub as my modem/router, and from what I can see from Googling there is no option to set these to bridge mode.
I have not set the Eero to bridge mode either, but so far it seems to be working ok. Is this normal or will it lead to problems?
During my online search I have also found posts where people indicate that the Eero system is essentially designed for US style modem setups and is not suited to UK modem/routers and therefore is a bad solution if you are in the UK. Is this a fair assessment?
I am sadly considering returning the Eero and sticking with my BT Whole Home setup if the Eero cannot function properly with my router.
Thanks in advance for any help.
