Beacon selection and beacon speed
I have a setup consisting of one Eero Gen 2 and two beacons. I'm running with Charter 60 meg for network. I've been seeing two things that I'm not understanding.
First, I've noticed that all of my devices are connected to either the main Eero located on my first floor or my second floor beacon. I have another beacon on the first floor. All of my devices are connected to the main eero or the upstairs beacon. Nothing connects to my 2nd beacon even when devices are closer to that beacon. I've rebooted the beacon independently and also rebooted the whole network (all devices). At one point, after a reboot of all the devices, I saw items connecting to the 2nd beacon however eventually everything moved to the main eero and the upstairs beacon. I was under the impression that devices would be distributed in order to lower overcrowding on a single beacon. It is completely possible I misunderstood the methodology.
Another thing I have seen is when I am connected to the main Eero and run speedtest.net , I see my full 60+ speed. Other testing sites confirm the speed. Even the test on the eero confirms this. When I have a device connected to the beacon, I am seeing significant speed decreases. Most of the time the test runs about 25-35 meg. If I reboot the whole system I will see both the main eero and the upstairs beacon at 60+.....for a while but eventually the beacon will slow down. I would have assumed this to be the case if I was looking at a gig ISP however I didn't expect to see it with a 60 meg line. I also assumed I would see if if my devices were daisy chaining but that doesn't appear to be the case. As a matter of fact, the one beacon rarely has anything connected to it. Most of the time, nothing is.
I should probably mention that the bars on all the beacons are full. Most of my devices are showing 4 or 5 bars however I have two that are closer to the downstairs beacon that are showing yellow and connected to the upstairs beacon versus the closer downstairs one. I have 50+ devices. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for bringing your concerns to our attention, and sorry to hear you're having some trouble here. In this situation, while it's hard to say for sure, I'd generally ascribe these issues to the realm of unit placement and environmental interference, more so than issues with the units themselves. This would explain both the preference of some devices to gravitate towards one Beacon over the other, as well as the possible speed fluctuations you've been seeing. I'd imagine with some adjustments to placement, we could see improvement.
To that end, the best way for us to help you troubleshoot this would be for you to shoot us an email to support@eero.com with a diagram or floorplan of the home with the location of the units marked, so that our technicians can take a look, evaluate the placement with some of our diagnostic tools, and then compare that to your diagram. Additionally, one helpful thing to try, to narrow down whether there might actually be a Beacon issue, will be to physically swap the location of those two Beacons and see if the behavior persists, or "follows" the suspected node.

I see similar behavior as well. I have a Beacon in the Living Room in 1st floor. And another one in the Bedroom in 2nd floor, upstairs.
My wife and my iPhone tend to connect to the Living Room Beacon even though we are both in the Bedroom, right beside the Bedroom Beacon.
In the eero app, tapping on the devices and iPhone, I see that the signal between the iPhone and Living Room Beacon is just one bar. So, if signal is weak, why didn’t the iPhone connects to the Bedroom Beacon right beside it?
Did that make the Bedroom Beacon redundant? Should I power it on then?
