802.1Q VLAN Trunking

In addition to the ability to add multiple SSIDs and assign VLANs to each, 802.1Q trunking for these vlans would be required to allow the EERO to tag traffic that is being sent out.

Wow, I'm glad I searched on this subject before actually purchasing! For those of us who are very strict about isolating IoT, trusted devices, phones/tables, guests, etc, we might have several VLAN. Right now, I operate 4 VLAN and 8 SSIDs (2.4 and 5 bands for each wifi network). I do this now on a Tomato-based router, operating as a WAP since I use pfSense for routing. Having these WiFi segments trunked over the single uplink from eero to my router is pretty much a necessary feature.

So, until eero supports 802.1q I simply can't consider it.

Come on Eero, with all this IoT we need to isolate network segments for security. I know you all understand this. Thanks for the guest isolation (node to node), but I'd like to dedicate isolated SSIDs for stuff like Plex and IoT.

+1 Also going to chime in here to request this crucial feature. Having the capability to have multiple SSIDs (in addition to the guest network isolated network) bridged to VLANs across a 802.1q trunk would bring this platform a lot closer to comparable enterprise grade systems. Deploying a new system this evening reminded me a lot of the trial of Cisco Meraki equipment I had at work a few years ago.

I would think that eero has the opportunity to expand their feature set considerably and bring to the table something that would directly compete with Meraki and other similars at a much more economical price. Yes, there would need to be trade-offs in order to keep the system friendly to non-technical home customers. It’s all software though. Perhaps a separate model or operating system that provides more advanced features for the more advanced network topology? Opportunity to attract those currently using Ubiquiti stuff...

I love my eero but I'm very tempted to switch to ubiquiti for openvpn and vlan support.

Just switched to CenturyLink (in Seattle) for their $65 gigabit internet connection - and I'm super-disappointed to learn that my top-of-the-line, 2nd-gen Eero routers don't work with this setup! Eero, it looks like this is an old thread, please reply!

I see this still hasn’t happened. I really hope they come out with this. I may have to use my guest network in the interim for now.

Has anyone heard any updates as to whether 802.1q is in the pipeline?  especially now in light of Amzn.  Makes sense to have the ability to segment the Ethernet ports. Or even connect to a managed switch.

There are so many reasons to segment a network. I’d love to keep all my untrusted IoT toaster whatevers away from my laptops, and keep those away from cameras, and those away from guests, etc. Please add! Tie it to profiles maybe? Any help to segment the broad, flat LAN would be a huge value.

Please add this feature. With all of the IOT devices we know have in our home it is a security risk to have them on our primary network.

I'm gonna have to chime in as well here.  VLAN tagging via 802.1Q is a pretty important feature.  OpenVPN support is likewise something that'd I'd like to see.  While more SSID's would be great, the former two features are rather important.

I feel like I am outgrowing my EERO's.  I was already into pfSense when EERO plus came out, so my eero network is really competing on the features that ubiquiti seem to be embracing.  I certainly hope that eero plays some catch up here, as I add IoT devices, I am left hoping nothing untoward is going to happen, I'd like a bit more confidence than that.

Very disappointing that there hasn't been an eero response to this in like 2 years.  This is a needed feature.

The lack of response from the staff is disappointing. I just sold my devices and moved to Ubiquiti. More powerful and security focused than eero will ever be. Ubiquiti supports mesh as well.

Please add this feature. I don't want IoT devices on the same network as my laptop incase those devices get hacked.
