Are the current beacons the same as those sold five years ago?
I have a eero model B010001 (Gen 2) with two beacons, all at least five years old. I might want to improve the speed of the mesh network. Poking around the eero site, I have come to understand that the beacons sold today are basically the same as those sold a half decade ago. That is, all beacons are Gen 2. To upgrade the network I would have to replace them with extenders or better yet other base units. Is that correct? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the reply. The implication of your post is that my answer is essentially "Yes, all Beacons have the same throughput so I could not replace them with a newer model and get an increase in network speed." Given that Beacons plug into wall sockets I don't see the importance of using a low power protocol, but that's a different topic.
