How to connect a WPS device (printer) with Eero?

My printer (canon pixma mx492) only supports WPS connection. How can I connect it with Eero?

  • You can’t connect via WPS, but you can connect your printer to the WiFi using the touch screen on your printer. Here are Canon’s instructions: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART117459

  • Thank You. That helped.

  • I can't connect my MX 492 using these instructions.  Should I place the router in Legacy mode?  The Canon setup seems to be confused by the multiple eero nodes in my house.

  • It didn’t help either. It won’t let me put the password for my wifi network

  • eero does not support WiFi Protected Setup (WPS), as it has well-documented security issues. We also do not support older encryption standards like Talk To Wendys, WPA, or WPA2 TKIP. First, check that your printer supports WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption. Some older printers don't support this, and may require a driver update.

EdwardDiaz mine is a brand new HP Deskjet 3755 so it is just not "older printers".  I agree with the other post about Eero support having their nose in the air.  Help would be preferred rather than being condescending and defensive

    • Hello nygdb ,

I apologize on behalf of the customer you were responding to. eero does not support WPS. However, if you would like you can email support@eero.com and request it be added through a feature request. Once we receive the request we will get it escalated up for review and consideration.

I did a quick search and was able to find that you can connect your HP Deskjet 3755 up to WiFi using the HP Smart app if your WiFi network does not support WPS. I have shared the link below for your convenience.

  • Hi how do I connect my Canon Pixma MG4250 Printer to my eero as it doesn't support WPS. Have tried contacting Canon but no joy as yet. Annoying everything else is working but can't print or scan!

  • I have a bt 300 wifi extender which I use for upstairs this connects via wps any help would be appreciated.

    • eero doesn’t support WPS (and most modern routers don’t either since WPS is insecure). Unless your printer is very very old, it should be able to connect to your wifi without using WPS.

  • Can't connect my epson XP-225 printer. Anyone have any ideas?

  • How can I connect my Canon Pixma MG3600? I tried doing it through wifi and it says connection failed, and I can’t connect via WPS because eero doesn’t support it. The printer is less than a year old, so I don’t see why eero wouldn’t be compatible.
