eero pro with current Netgear Router/Modem

Hello,  I need to upgrade my wifi in the house, as I have to many dead spots.  I currently have Spectrum Internet at 400mps and using a Netgear Router/Modem combo unit.

I have connected three home automation controllers and a NVR directly wired to the Netgear.  Looks like with Eero I will not have that many connections in that one spot.

So my question is the following.

1.    Which modem would you recommend I buy that Spectrum supports?

  • Arris SBG8300
  • Netgear CAX80
  • Netgear CM1000v2
  • Netgear CM1100
  • Netgear CM1200

2.  Can I plug a internet switch into the back of the Eero to get POE and internet to the home automation and NVR?  Any suggestions?

  • I’d go with the Netgear CM100 or 1200 personally.

You’ll connect the modem to one port on your eero gateway which leaves one left. You can get a little 5 port switch to connect to the other port and plug your hubs and NVR into the switch.

In regards to PoE, eero doesn’t support that, but I’m sure you’re current Netgear modem/router doesn’t either so it shouldn’t be a problem.
