Eero and Google Fiber

Hello,

I currently have my 3 eeros connected to a switch which is then connected to my Google Fiber Network Box (wifi off on GFNB) that goes to the Fiber Jack. I have my eeros in bridge mode because I didnt think they could hook up directly to the Fiber Jack, I see that there is a support page that says I can connect to the fiber jack directly https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207926293-Can-I-use-eero-with-my-current-ISP-

It was my understanding that eero does support vlan tagging and qos needed for it to work, at least not yet anyway. Also since my fiber jack is powered over ethernet im assuming I would need an power injector as well. Can someone from support provide info on this?

  • Hi disavow -

Sorry for the delayed response! Unfortunately, it looks like the content we linked out to in that article was related to Google Fiber for small businesses. I do appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and I've corrected the link.

Here is the correct article: https://support.google.com/fiber/answer/2446100?hl=en

At this time, it looks like Google Fiber doesn’t allow residential customers to bypass their provided equipment. In order to use the eero, you would need to connect them to a port on the back of your Fiber router, rather than the Fiber Jack. Feel free to connect the eeros to your switch as you had them before, but please keep in mind that the eeros will need to be bridged if you want to go wth that configuration.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else we can help with.
