Feature Request: Network name in app other than SSID

The eero application names the each network it is managing with the SSID of the network that was installed.  I have two networks I installed with the same SSID (easier for family members as they use the different networks), but it is confusing when using the app to figure out which is which (and it is confusing to the eero support staff when i call in with an issue on network XYZ - 'which XYZ do you mean...'

    Hey  billh

Thanks for your feature request! It is definitely good to know the use case, so we appreciate you providing that.

If there are any updates, I'll be sure to update the thread! Thanks again.

I have a similar use case and would love to see the ability to give networks some sort of name/description or other label that is visible in the "Switch Networks" view beyond just the SSID.

Hey @jeff_c, the "Home Identifier" field is perfect for our use case!

We would love to see it displayed in the network listing table on the Eero RNM dashboard as a column alongside the Network Name (or as a subheading under it)!

Bonus points for having it be searchable from the search bar on top of the RNM tool!

This request seems to have stalled, Jeff C. any word on if this is still in the works? After searching the requests, this seems to be requested frequently, they are just worded differently.

As mentioned in the initial request, this would be extremely helpful as right now I have to guess which network I'm trying to view on the Eero application.

As a new user with 2 locations with the same SSID, I agree this is a needed feature. Even a simple tag on them that could allow us to distinguish would be super helpful.

I just wanted to add my support for this.  I started using Eero for my home network and have had a great experience with it.  The experience was so good that I’ve deployed them within about 2 dozen urgent care clinics that I help manage.

Our challenge is that all of the clinics share the same SSID in order to make it easier for patients and staff.  Once they connect from any single location, they don’t have to connect again at another location.  However this makes managing the deployment very difficult as we have to click through EACH network one by one randomly to hoping to find the correct one to manage.

Having the ability to manage a network based on a custom name instead of just the SSID would be HUGELY appreciated and make our tech guy’s lives much easier.

Thank you and happy new year!

I'm switching from using Linksys's mesh solution and they had the same problem, however, about a year or so ago, they solved identifying the networks by doing "<ssid name><device name>" in the network list. The Device name is the name of the "root node" of the network.  I feel like I stepped back in time when I setup two networks with the same SSID and can no longer idenitfy which is which.  @Eero dev team, maybe doing something similar is simpler than implementing the nickname logic?
