Feature Request: Bandwidth Monitor

With Comcast and others adding bandwidth caps id love to get internal alerts since Comcast numbers are so out of whack.

I'm actively looking for an eero replacement unfortunately. I've had my 4 unit eero pro mesh system for 1.5 years and it's been extremely reliable and a very good performer in our large home. However, the lack of this feature AND more importantly, the lack of communication from eero about the status of this feature is what's motivated my search. Without this capability we are flying blind in management of our network. That's unacceptable.

I thought eero may have been cash strapped and that is what was hindering development. So when Amazon bought them I was actually hopeful that we'd see the feature implemented sooner rather than later. But it hasn't been and we've heard nothing. Very disappointing.

carter Oh ok so that's the older one
I wonder if the newer models are even better

Jason The google system is 1/2 the price and doesn't require an annual subscription.

carter The Nest version doesn't require an annual subscription either unless you're talking about the eeros. Nest WiFi is just the rename of Google's new WiFi nodes

Jason when I mentioned the annual subscription, I was referring to eero

carter eero doesn't require an annual subscription either. I had the subscription for a year but found no value in it for me. So I canceled it. Now if they offered bandwidth monitoring at the device level in a subscription I'd subscribe as that would be worth it to me.

Mgreer316 at that point I'd rather pay xfinity $50/month for unlimited data than eero $10/month just to see what's using what

Jason As of right now, I have unlimited data from Comcast. But that doesn't mean they couldn't change it at any time. So I still want to know what my monthly data consumption is at the device level.

Given that they've been looking at this for over three years, isn't it time for them to admit the only way it'll get implemented is on a new version of the hardware and will not be backward compatible?

YetAnotherUserName It's time for them to make some sort of unambiguous definitive statement. Either it is definitely coming soon, or sorry, we can't make this work with the current hardware.

YetAnotherUserName it should work just fine on any hardware since all it really needs is a software update that can track it all

There was a comment in reddit recently by an eero developer that this feature is coming "soon". After years of waiting, seems anti-climatic, but will be welcome "soon".

I need this. Hitting our monthly cap and with 50 devices, it's hard to figure out which one is to blame.

willieabrams Yep and Eero went in the wrong direction. At one point they showed the bandwidth at the top level where all devices were displayed. Now you have to go to each device and look. Not helpful when you are looking for your top bandwidth users.

Also subject to Xfinity data cap. I’ve pretty much given up on Eero ever rolling this out and will be switching back to Google solely due to the lack of this feature. Such a no brainer I didn’t even think to check the functionality prior to purchasing. Unbelievable.

What is the current status on this request?

It seems Eero has gone backwards in this respect. Instead of showing network use for every host entry, you now have to go into the details of each host to see what it's doing. This is frustrating when trying to track down usage.

We should be able to monitor both in network and WAN (Internet) usage per host, in one screen that lists all hosts sorted by largest bandwidth usage.

Going one step further, would like to see the history of usage over a few days.

One step beyond that would be able to show bandwidth based on destination so we can answer the question "what service is driving my usage so high?" Is it Netflix, Backblaze, Amazon Prime, etc.?

The problem many are trying to solve is trying to keep below their ISP data cap. Without visibility into usage data it's difficult to figure out what is taking the bandwidth.

Who has given up hope that Eero will ever implement this feature with their current hardware? I have. There are many new Wifi 6 mesh options now available. Even though client devices that take advantage of Wifi 6 are currently sparse, that's the direction I'll be going in very soon. While my Eero mesh system has performed flawlessly for going on 2 years, I'm extremely disappointed they they haven't moved on what is a critical capability for their customers. They've steadily upgraded their software with "nice" features, but not this "critical" feature. Eero, the lack of this feature is costing your customers money!!!! This should be of dire concern to you. Priority number 1! But you've shown that it isn't.

      Mgreer316

A full featured dashboard tab, or vast update to Activity would be worth a nickel as a 'premium feature' - I know I'd pay a few dollars to avoid ISP tax.

And yes, my Eero mesh is the best thing I've owned which includes things I've built myself!

But visibility and management are key features, especially for the typical buyer OF Eero....geez.

"Who has given up hope that Eero will ever implement this feature with their current hardware?"

I gave up last year and bought Google Wifi. The Eero is now a paperweight.

Any updates? I'm so bummed I didn't buy Google Wifi just for this feature.

Having to police data with my children is exhausting.  In addition, I now have the added responsibility to police data usage.  While that is not Eero's problem, I find it really difficult to influence my children's behavior if I do not know which devices are eating up all of my Internet bandwidth.  I want to be able to stream 4k content and have access to all the latest games but Comcast has really put a damper on having a connected household with a 1024GB cap before penalizing us financially.  Of course, now that schools are closed for over 6 weeks due to COVID-19, I'm very concerned that my data will overfill for stupid things like game downloads, game updates and streaming.  With my frustrations for Comcast aside, I can adjust all of these settings and have done so with the best of my knowledge but it is difficult to know which devices are the culprit.  In the past 24hours we have used over 100GB even after I have tried to prevent automatic downloads from our various systems and software programs.

    Please help us.

It would be very helpful for me to have at least a comment that acknowledges this as a priority to Eero.  If it is a priority, where does it stand in line with all other current priorities.

Yeah guys -- this feature is way overdue, and the most in demand request you have.

You're already serving up the current bw stats per device, could you at least give us a list of all currently connected devices with that so we can see what's happening in realtime in one place?

Network professional here. Really excited for this product, just implemented it in my home. Have it in IP passthrough so I’m not getting stats on my router/modem GUI. Having a bandwidth report, real time usage meter, and highest device usage would be excellent. Really hope this is pursued quickly.
