Status of network via local access to base station

Recently my internet was out, but the status on the app said ONLINE.  Technical support said I needed access to the cloud to get the proper status.  WHAT?

Suggestion:  Any access point should allow a local host to access it via the intranet Wifi of the serviced area.  (Such as the way the Apple Airport always did.)

The local Wifi and intranet should be available even though the connection to the internet is down. Thus, the status can be obtained locally, not cloud based. The app should not depend on another network (in this case, a cellular network) to get its status of the local conditions.   It makes little sense to me that you still need access to the cloud to get an OFFLINE status, when the internet access is down.  All such status should be obtained locally.

  • Yes!  Even if I had to touch a button on the app to force it to check, that would be fine.  But I get the same thing and its super annoying.
