Should I add a gen 1?

I installed the gen 2 pro around three weeks ago which comes with three units and I am loving the system so far. 4500 square foot  2 story house and great coverage throughout the house and even in the back yard all the way to a cabana which we have sonos in. I’m thinking of just adding one gen 1 to the front part of the house mainly for the sky bell and better distance into the front yard. Amazon has a refurbished one for only $76 so seems like a cheap way to get better coverage outside my house in the front. The sky bell works with the current system but has a slow connection. Would this likely work pretty well? My three gen 2s are placed upstairs and the other two are down but toward the back of the house so I can maximize coverage in the back. The sky bell stays connected to the upstairs Eero.

  • You won’t have any problems doing that. Gen 1 works just fine mixed in with Gen 2 eeros. I have two Gen 1, one Gen 2, and a Beacon on my network. Mix and match to your heart’s and wallet’s content :)

  • Thanks for the reply. I am think what I hope to do with that eero wouldn’t justify spending the extra money for the additional speed of a gen 2. I just need a solid connection to the doorbell camera and a better WiFi signal in the front to stream music if need be. Our internet speed is horrible through Uverse. I have the top plan which is only 25MBps.

    • Awazake Gen 1’s will be just fine. I could stream 4K and 1080p to multiple devices at the same time without any issue on my network when I had only Gen 1 eeros.
