Computer on Eero network cannot see/talk to another on the same network.

I have two computers on my Eero network that I am trying to share files between, however I am having problems.  For both computers the sub-net mask is set to 255.255.252.0.  One computer has an ip address of 192.168.4.x while the other is 192.168.5.x.  From the .4 computer I can ping and reach the shared drives on the .5 computer, but when I try to access the .4 computer from the .5 computer (even something as simple as ping) it cannot find it.

Any idea on what is going on here, and how to resolve the problem.  The .4 computer is running windows 7 and the .5 is running windows 10.

  • This issue is because you have them in different subnets. I’m guessing your eero network is setup to use the 192.168.4.x subnet and it’s only routing “inbound” traffic on that one. Change the Windows 10 computer to the 192.168.4.x subnet and that should resolve the issue.

  • I had this problem as well.  For a long time I have had periodic printer connection problems.  After a lot of head scratching I discovered that some devices on my network were assigned ip addresses in the 192.168.5 subnet not the 192.168.4 subnet where most of my wifi connected devices are.  After a call to EERO support and a "soft" reset, all devices are now on the .4 subnet.
