Assign Device to EERO access point

Hello. I’d like to be able to assign my devices to a specific EERO access point. For example, if my (ROKU) TV is the the Office, I’d like it to always connect to the “office” AP.

sometimes the TV will connect to an eero AP that is far away from it.

Thx.

  • Devices (clients) determine what AP they connect to.  An AP can't and shouldn't instruct a device who to connect to.

untrue. If I want to assign a device to a certain AP that should absolutely be allowed. As the admin of my own network, I should be able to assign devices to AP.

JustJoe incorrect.  Allowing AP's to direct clients who to connect to both violates WiFi certification (though many companies do it through MAC blocking) and is a security issue.  If you are dissatisfied with the logic your client uses, you need your client's manufacturer to address that issue.

txgunlover incorrect, I don’t want to allow the AP to assign it! I want to assign it to always connect to a certain AP.

  • My devices frequently connect to a farther eero. Being able to choose an specific eero point would be a life saviour. Sometimes even turning wifi on and off doesn't make the job, so I have to unplug the farther  eero point to force the device to connect to the nearest. This happens to all my devices and different brands. It would be great if we could link a profile to an specific access point. So every device on the profile would always connect to the same point. I have TVs, Desktops, Alexas, Playstations... these kind of devices are always in the same room. We could put them on the same profile and assign an specific eero. I don't think this feature will be implemented because Eero would be assuming that their system does not work seamlessly. But, lets hope...
