How to transition from eero 6 to eero 6 pro?
I've been having too many issues getting reliability out of a new eero 6 system over the past 3-1/2 months. It may be too much local interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
So I'm going to try upgrading to the tri-band eero 6 pro mesh instead to reduce my use of the 2.4 band. Is there a way to do this transition and preserve all my custom device names mapped to MAC addresses that I've created in the eero app? Maybe by first adding one eero 6 pro to the existing mesh and then making it the gateway. Then add the other eero 6 pro and then finally remove the eero 6's. Since all eero versions are supposed to play nice with each other, I am wondering if this approach will work - or will I encounter any issues transitioning this way?

Your plan of adding an eero 6 Pro to the existing network first and then physically swapping it with your existing eero gateway will work (you literally just swap them out--you don't have to change anything in the app). But I doubt upgrading to the 6 Pro is going to make any difference for the issues you're experiencing. If you haven't already, I would highly recommend reaching out to eero support and have them take a look at your network and see if they can identify any issues that might be causing your problems.
