Ability to adjust signal strength in settings
I have a router mainly just for my bedroom and the strength is way too intense and I’m having trouble sleeping. I understand that this probably isn’t a popular request, but it’s enough of a concern for me that I may need to return my entire security system over it. Other routers have an option to decrease signal strength and I would very strongly appreciate if this option were made available. I really don’t think I can keep this system if this can’t be adjusted.
Have you considered eliminating the wireless network completely? You can connect to your ISP directly using CAT5e Ethernet cables.
Connect Fiber Optic Line to an Ethernet Switch
Fiber optic cables are commonly used for core network lines and connections that must span long distances, such as those used by Internet service providers. This is due to the fact that fiber optic cables transmit signals as light through clear glass or plastic fiber strands, which is much faster than the signal transmission method used by Ethernet cables that transmit electronic signals over copper wire. To connect your fiber optic line to an Ethernet-only network switch, you need a fiber optic-to-Ethernet converter box.
Set your fiber optic-to-Ethernet converter box in a location near your Ethernet switch and plug in its power adapter.
Insert the end of your fiber optic network line into the fiber optic connector on the converter box.
Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the converter box and plug the other end into one of the Ethernet ports on the back of your Ethernet switch. If the Ethernet switch will be providing the network connection to the fiber optic line, plug the Ethernet cable into one of the output Ethernet ports on the switch. If the fiber optic line will be providing the network connection to the switch, plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet input port on the switch.
Hope this helps...
Yes, what I was suggesting would require you to plug each device in to an Ethernet cable. So the only other idea that I would have is to locate the wireless router as far away as possible from your room. Changing the direction that the router is pointed can also reduce the strength of the Wi-Fi signal in your location.
This is an important feature. Does it really not exist?
