Ability to adjust signal strength in settings

I have a router mainly just for my bedroom and the strength is way too intense and I’m having trouble sleeping. I understand that this probably isn’t a popular request, but it’s enough of a concern for me that I may need to return my entire security system over it. Other routers have an option to decrease signal strength and I would very strongly appreciate if this option were made available. I really don’t think I can keep this system if this can’t be adjusted.

Have you considered eliminating the wireless network completely? You can connect to your ISP directly using CAT5e Ethernet cables.

Connect Fiber Optic Line to an Ethernet Switch

Fiber optic cables are commonly used for core network lines and connections that must span long distances, such as those used by Internet service providers. This is due to the fact that fiber optic cables transmit signals as light through clear glass or plastic fiber strands, which is much faster than the signal transmission method used by Ethernet cables that transmit electronic signals over copper wire. To connect your fiber optic line to an Ethernet-only network switch, you need a fiber optic-to-Ethernet converter box.

    1

Set your fiber optic-to-Ethernet converter box in a location near your Ethernet switch and plug in its power adapter.

    2

Insert the end of your fiber optic network line into the fiber optic connector on the converter box.

    3

Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the converter box and plug the other end into one of the Ethernet ports on the back of your Ethernet switch. If the Ethernet switch will be providing the network connection to the fiber optic line, plug the Ethernet cable into one of the output Ethernet ports on the switch. If the fiber optic line will be providing the network connection to the switch, plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet input port on the switch.

    Hope this helps...

Mark H.  I’m sorry, I'm so lost. You’re going to have to speak muggle to me. I was planning to use ring alarm pro to secure a room from roommates who have stolen from me in the past and who I suspect of turning off WiFi to bypass my network security. But there’s just no way I can keep it if I can’t substantially turn down the signal strength.

I don’t really understand your proposal. Would every device I use have to be connected to a cable? That doesn’t sound ideal, especially since a lot of my devices don’t even have incoming ports. Network security is a high priority as well and I’m concerned about the risks of using technology that I don’t fully understand.

I seem to be okay with mild to medium strength networks, but the strength of the signal from the eero router was positively insane for just one room. I’m really hoping they can amend this for people with studios or small apartments but I’m probably going to have to return the system.

Mark H. sorry I realize I said network security when I was referring to physical security- specifically a security camera that stops working when internet is disrupted.

Yes, what I was suggesting would require you to plug each device in to an Ethernet cable.  So the only other idea that I would have is to locate the wireless router as far away as possible from your room. Changing the direction that the router is pointed can also reduce the strength of the Wi-Fi signal in your location.

Mark H. The point was to keep my room secure so keeping it anywhere else in the house is not an option. It was so perfect in every other way, I really hope they introduce a signal strength adjustment feature for the app or I’m back at bingo.

This is an important feature. Does it really not exist?
